Don't worry. I think Bioshock 2 did all the ruining already.Devil919 said:You know what, when i heard a new bioshock game being released i was like "Yay ^^ more big daddys more little sisters more rapture". But when i watched this trailor i was more like "This isn't bioshock, its just a game that is using a well known title to sell it". I am sorry if people disagree with me but i really hope with game gets cancelled before they truely ruin the franchise. Anyone else acually agree with me? Oh and i am quite a big bioshock fan and i do know it could not be set in rapture again.
Also anyone else think it should of followed Eleanor instead? I would love to of seen how she coped with being on the surface.
Bioshock isnt about Rapture! It's the universe these cities are in. It is to the very core the effects these powers have on people when the laymen get's their hands on them. It can also be said that the Bioshock series as a whole is a look at what happens when one becomes power hungry and forgets her/his humanity.Devil919 said:You know what, when i heard a new bioshock game being released i was like "Yay ^^ more big daddys more little sisters more rapture". Whoa! I never acually said that it was ALL about rapture, its just from the video it looks... i don't know kinda boring :/ its probably just me being stubbon but you are probably right. I just wished they created a new name for it as i hate to see franchises being milked dry *cough* Kingdom Hearts *cough* Because it just makes the franchise less memorable. Oh also i don't have a garderner and if he could shot bees from his hands i would definatly NOT hire him; infact i would ask him where he got that plasmid from ^^Tentickles said:Bioshock isnt about Rapture! Ask yourself: Would you be nicer to your gardener if he could shoot bees out his hands?
Props for not taking that as a personal insult. Happens way to much on these forums *hands internet coupon*Devil919 said:Whoa! Lol yeah but i so agree with you, i think that is what i am mostly scarred of. One of bioshocks greatest character was Rapture itself, it had such mystery which, by the look of the video, this new bioshock does not :/Tentickles said:Props for not taking that as a personal insult. Guess I could have worded that first sentence better. I agree with you though, the videos they are putting out ARE boring. Looks just like a FPS with an emotional back story and super powers. Sounds like the first game (lol).
What I love about this series is the fact that it isnt about killing people with guns or super powers. The main character and the supporting characters are there and drive the story... The best part though is that the surroundings end up having their own personalities! Just think back to the first level of Bioshock 1 and how the level got increasingly more and more demented as you went on. As you listened to the tapes about the doctor and the surroundings added to the horror of what he was doing by adding writing on the walls and mutilated corpses and those cut up medical photos. The icing on the cake when you get to the doctor, kill him, then listen to that last audio during the surgery.
Now imagine if you went through that entire level but it was a non discriminant FPS (underwater) office building. There's no real attachment to why you're going to kill the doctor. It's just a goal you need to get to the next part.
The levels have their own personalities that add even more to the story. You dont get that often in a game.
Wow. I really went on didnt I?
There is going to be two new BioShock games from what I understand. BioShock Infinite is set in Columbia done by Kevin Lane (the person who made the first BioShock) and the people who made BioShock 2 are going to continue the Rapture story and make BioShock 3.Devil919 said:You know what, when i heard a new bioshock game being released i was like "Yay ^^ more big daddys more little sisters more rapture". In BioShock Infnite you will be there as the city descends into madness, so instead of you listening to other people experiencing the madness, you're going to be there living it, going to be seeing it, I find that a lot more exciting than BioShock.Tentickles said:-Snip-
Whoa! again! To be honest saying its an "insult" is taking it a bit far. I didn't know it was the same person who did the bioshock and yeah he is entitled to use it but i never said he should NOT use it, i just didn't want the franchise to keep going on and on getting more stale and mundane. I did not mean it in any way but the best... I promise ^^Also saying 'Using a well known title to sell it' is a bit of an insult, considering the guy who made the original BioShock is making this game, and I feel he is fully entitled to use the title however he wants.
Kinda agree here. Nothing wrong with naming it Bioshock. But imho it would have been better if named .....shock (like how System Shock changed to Bioshock).Devil919 said:Whoa! again! Sorry, I went a bit overboard. Stale and mundane are an odd choice of words to use considering the different innovations that are going to be used in this game. If you like BioShock 2 then you'll see why I believe that the franchise is only getting better the more games they make. Combining the gameplay improvements from the second game and applying the amazing writing/plot from the first game seems to be a good combination to me.Devil919 said:Whoa! again! My guess is that he used the name BioShock for brand recognition, because if he was to use a different name then people would assume it was a different game with a different plot with different gameplay. And then, most likely not buy it. While if you say BioShock you assume it's a great game with above average writing gameplay and storytelling.Hagi said:-Snip-
