I so hope you are right :) as i have played Bioshock 2 five times and i am on my 6th play through (always never harvesting a single little sister of course as i could never make myself get anything but the good ending ^^) if this bioshock does what you say then i think i will be quite happy indeed :D

I could never harvest, I did it once on my second playthrough and just felt so guilty. It should be a bit like the Mirandas Den DLC (I haven't played it, but I've heard great thing about it) just extended into a full game.

Also saying 'Using a well known title to sell it' is a bit of an insult, considering the guy who made the original BioShock is making this game, and I feel he is fully entitled to use the title however he wants.
Whoa! again! To be honest saying its an "insult" is taking it a bit far. I didn't know it was the same person who did the bioshock and yeah he is entitled to use it but i never said he should NOT use it, i just didn't want the franchise to keep going on and on getting more stale and mundane. I did not mean it in any way but the best... I promise ^^
Sorry, I went a bit overboard. Stale and mundane are an odd choice of words to use considering the different innovations that are going to be used in this game. If you like BioShock 2 then you'll see why I believe that the franchise is only getting better the more games they make. Combining the gameplay improvements from the second game and applying the amazing writing/plot from the first game seems to be a good combination to me.

My guess is that he used the name BioShock for brand recognition, because if he was to use a different name then people would assume it was a different game with a different plot with different gameplay. And then, most likely not buy it. While if you say BioShock you assume it's a great game with above average writing gameplay and storytelling.

Another reason is that he wanted it to be a middlefinger to the people who made BioShock 2 because they took over his franchise.
It's also because, as mentioned before, the Bioshock series is about presenting ideals and systems of government and their flaws through a concrete form (a city based around that ideal.) I think that Levine could have gotten rid of plasmids/vigors if he wanted, and he still would have called it Bioshock for that reason.

And I'm surprised how much hate there is for Bioshock 2 in this thread. Sure, the villain and a bunch of other elements sucked, but you would think it was Superman 64 from the way people are talking about it.

Like Yahztee said, it had two gunshots in it's knees before it was even released, because it was a BioShock sequal. It was always going to be compared to BioShock 1 and any flaw found in the game would be multiplied until the hate of that one single element blocked out some of the stuff the game did right.

This is one of the games I am looking forward to the most.
Right up there with Skyrim, Mass Effect 3 and Arkham City.

Bioshock 2 was a huge disappointment, but Infinite is looking up! (haha!)

I love the big disclaimer about it being all in-game footage, since so many people were angry that the previous (awesome) trailer didn't look like real gameplay.

My guess? Elizabeth gets turned into a sea slug and thrown into the Atlantic.

Well, it had the problem of not resonating like the first did. Bioshock 1 was a game with an interesting story, well done in game cinematics, and interesting characters. Bioshock 2 was a better than average steam punk shooter.

If you were hoping for the former, and got the latter, it's hard not to be let down and angry.

Also, because it was a twisting of a good story, it felt like it was damaging to the continuity. For those that played Bioshock 2, your impression of the ongoing narrative gets all jumbled up and weird. Really, I wish it had been a completely different location, and didn't re-use the same characters. Wouldn't have felt like it was setting fire to something I loved.

After I had found that the story of BioShock 2 was lacking, I just tried to enjoy the game so I focused on the gameplay and not the story. So I still found it an enjoyable experience.

Irrational did a fantastic job with the first Bioshock and from what they've released so far ifinite seem like it'll top that. Another game that I have to pre-order man I need a better job.

You know what, when i heard a new bioshock game being released i was like "Yay ^^ more big daddys more little sisters more rapture". But when i watched this trailor i was more like "This isn't bioshock, its just a game that is using a well known title to sell it". I am sorry if people disagree with me but i really hope with game gets cancelled before they truely ruin the franchise. Anyone else acually agree with me? Oh and i am quite a big bioshock fan and i do know it could not be set in rapture again.

Also anyone else think it should of followed Eleanor instead? I would love to of seen how she coped with being on the surface.
What more could rapture possibly have to offer? That cow has been milked dry twice now. Also, Eleanor's adventure on the surface would likely be nothing like what we saw in Bioshock one or two.

The reason this game has the Bioshock title is that it's a spiritual successor. The gameplay is still very much the same, and the story still revolves around a man thrust into a strange, mysterious, and vaguely creepy world.

Oh smokes. I have to have it. I really like how they aren't going to just stay in Rapture for the new game. Otherwise, the franchise would just stagnate. It's good to see a popular franchise changing things up while keeping the best aspects. Now, if you'll all excuse me, I need to go change my pants.

Awesome. Kinda wish there was a 'hook up with girl who ISN'T having abusive boyfriend/mechanical eagle problems right now' option, but what kind of video game would it be if the protagonist could actually nail the ingenue? Also, Booker just broke the shit out of his left shoulder even if he did catch that rail.

Overall: looks great aside from severe chiropractor-requiring problems and protagonist being a tard.

So... you're saying that you don't want the franchise getting stale and mundane, but at the same time saying that they should always stick to the same setting?

Yeah... no.

I've been a fanboy of Bioshock since I was able to play the game for 5 minutes at a friend's party. So when I seen this... *geekgasm*

Sorry to stop the flow of intellectual conversation that's been taking place here, but am I the only one who thinks that the citizens of Columbia sound like Sand People?
