I'm sorry to hear you say that. Especially since Hope was my favorite character in XIII and the character I could connect with most. He had the most development as a character in the game, he had the best interactions with characters(particularly Lightning and Snow), and when it came to gameplay he could become both the best magic-using Ravager and the best Synergist. Most people bash him in the beginning when he was acting how a regular kid would react when put into that situation, then forget how later in the game he becomes a voice of reason and starts standing up for himself(and rarely mentions his mother again). The Great JT said:Oh boy, I get the feeling that this game is in trouble. Seriously, why would you bring back the whiniest, most pathetic, annoying, rage-inducing character in Final Fantasy history? Is there a single person in existance who found Hope the least bit likeable? The entire time I've played Final Fantasy XIII all I've wanted to do is pound his annoying, whining face into jelly with a truncheon! And then you bring him back?! NO!! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!! NO NO NO! нет, không có, 无, नहीं, nicht, なし なし なし, Aucun and every other language that has ever existed and will ever exists's spelling and interpretation of NO!
Now some of you may think I'm over-reacting. Well to those of you who think that...
Hope was such an annoying character that if I were to torture him, the damn Cenobites would tell me to ease off on him! I want him to suffer! TO BRING HIM BACK IN ANOTHER GAME IS, TO ME, THE EQUIVALENT OF A WAR CRIME.

You sir, have given me perhaps the best idea I've ever had (video game related at least). What if on the release day of FFXIII-2, every person instead purchased some older Final Fantasy title. FF7, FF8, FF9 or Tactics on PSN, whatever is on Wii's virtual console. Dissidia even. If Squeenix made boat loads of money from Final Fantasy on 13-2 release, but not from 13-2, I think that would be incredible.Torrasque said:Amen.burningdragoon said:Thankfully for me, Final Fantasy Syndrome only affects me for the single-numbered installments.
Think I'll fire up IX again and play the fuck out of it, just for spite.
Any direct sequel to a FF game, is a mistake.
Kind of like how Fire Emblem games shouldn't have sequels.
Ok good, I thought I was the only one thinking like that!ciancon said:Looking forward to playing as anyone but Noel.
Try the 5-7 million people who bought XIII and Square Enix would say yes. Those kind of numbers just don't lie that the game was popular, even with all the negative feedback (which they're listening to)Infernai said:Or spent making Versus 13 even better then it already appears to be (Which is already pretty fucking good).Vankraken said:Every minute and dollar spent on something like this is time and money that would be better spent on making another tactics game.
Again i must ask: Was there really a large group of people foaming at the mouth and demanding a sequel to 13?
What was wrong with Radiant Dawn? It was just more Path of Radiance. How is that not a winning combination!?Torrasque said:Amen.burningdragoon said:Thankfully for me, Final Fantasy Syndrome only affects me for the single-numbered installments.

I enjoyed it too, but there were way too many characters that I never used. Far too many "I am terrible no matter how you use me" characters for my liking, just like Shadow Dragon.MorphingDragon said:What was wrong with Radiant Dawn? It was just more Path of Radiance. I'm guessing you didn't see the info from E3 2011? Huh. The third character in the party for a bunch of battles is a monster, you capture certain monsters randomly, each has their own combat role (the lizard with the shell is a Sentinel, a Flanbanero is a Ravager, etc).Sober Thal said:Why is the guy from Kingdom Hearts in Final Fantasy?
Why are there no parties of three shown?
I liked FFXIII, why can't I find anything to like in this?!
Why must I ask why in every sentence?! WHY?!
Wait, you took more than 5-10 minutes for battles in FFXIII? You're doing it wrong. The battles are meant to be quick and action-packed. This isn't the '90s anymore. The old ATB "Attack, Attack, Attack, Waitwaitwait, Attack, Wait" scenario is beyond over.Olrod said:Will it be game over if the character you're controlling dies? What about if the other two can both cast Raise?
Will every single battle take 5-10 minutes to slog through, and be more like a chore than fun?
All the bitching about Versus is annoying too, considering that the crew working on FFXIII/FFXIII-2 has literally NOTHING to do with FF Versus XIII. Versus XIII is being made by the Kingdom Hearts team. If there's a game you want to ***** about them releasing, it's Kingdom Hearts 3.Infernai said:Or spent making Versus 13 even better then it already appears to be (Which is already pretty fucking good).Vankraken said:Every minute and dollar spent on something like this is time and money that would be better spent on making another tactics game.

Holy crap, someone who is smart on The Escapist forum? I AM AMAZE. You, sir, get unlimited amounts of internet and win. Use them wisely!Riku said:Try the 5-7 million people who bought XIII and Square Enix would say yes. People just don't seem to realise that XIII-2 and Vs XIII are made by different teams. Vs XIII is being made by the Kingdom Hearts team and XIII-2 is being made by those who made XIII.
There was a LOT of mythos and story of the worlds of Cocoon and Pulse still left to be told in XIII, and that was one thing that I hoped to learn more of as I finished XIII. I'm glad they are making a sequel, and y'know this is in the same 'universe' as Vs XIII and so the whole 'The Maker' and 'Goddess Etro' ties in very closely to vs XIII.
Don't believe me? Go and watch one of the gameplay trailers of Vs XIII and they will talk about the Goddess of Death (i.e. where they get their magic from in that game) and that is Goddess Etro... the same Goddess Etro who Lightning serves in XIII-2.
