Meh, why cant they just use new names instead of ripping out the heart and guts of old classics just to move a few more units.

The original Syndicate had you selecting missions , augmenting mindless drone agents and sending them through a sprawling city to complete objectives... removed in favour of controlling a single agent and shoot moar stuffz, oh you haz upgrades so its like you know... brainiac city dude coz you needz to like, decide on thingz ...like.

I am getting the distinct impression that the marketing department of the big publishers, thinks gamers are getting too thick for proper games and can only deal with point things at bad guy and press button games.

Shame. It was fun playing soulless corporate manager in original Syndicate, turning human beings into murderous puppets in order to get another promotion. Well, at least the developers could use that narrator's voice in the game, so we could experience being controlled by one.

Well.. it looks a bit cool in some ways. It seems suitably brutal, and the voice over from your chip is priceless.

On the other hand, I detect early symptoms of generic shooteritis. The use of hacking as a 'press x to continue' function in strictly linear gameplay is downright lazy. Heck, EYE Divine Cybermancy's hacking system was difficult and frustrating, but it definitely showed how to implement hacking as a viable strategic choice rather than a simply method to proceed.

Also, and this is really petty. The colour palette and light levels are totally off. I know this isn't the 80s and it can't always be dark and lit by neon lights and raining, but bright open environments and clean, sleek technology just doesn't feel like it has any kind of grounding in that cliched cyberpunk aesthetic which the original syndicate so wholeheartedly embraced for fun and camp value.

It looks like mass effect, and much as that would normally be a compliment, given the subject matter I think it's a pretty bad sign.
