I'm not the only one you offended. Stand by it if you wish, it doesn't change the fact that you are wrong. Severely.
Whoa- can't we all, like, chill out, dude?

People make wrong statements every now and then- it's no biggie...Although you have as much right to be offended as he did making that statement...Still, it's not an attack on you or anything, is it? No, it's not.

Note: Under the reign of Valens, they took possession of Dacia (the modern Transylvania and the adjoining regions), and came to be known as Ostrogoths and Visigoths, or East and West Goths; the former inhabiting countries on the Black Sea up to the Danube, and the latter on this river generally. I actually need to nab a trenchcoat for next Halloween. I'm gonna go as the Invisible Man. I've already got a fedora and sunglasses, and I think I have gauze somewhere.

Honestly, I think trench coats are a little weird, but only because I live in Southern California where the weather doesn't really permit them.

Plus everytime I think of them, I imagine the guys who killed Marlen Brando in the Godfather.

You can probably find a trench coat at a military surplus store. Its a standard issue uniform item. Also don't wear your trench coat to school. They have been banned since Columbine on the premise that it would be easy to conceal a large weapon (insert exhibitionist related joke here)
I bet they havn't banned dusters though.

I would only get one if the area around you is cold pretty much all year around and you get out a lot.

I have a few left over from my goth days, a leather one which got me a lot of matrix/Gestapo officer comments and a criminal damage one you should be able to find on the internet easily if you google the brand.

they went out of mainstream fashion about 20 years ago. they're still common in films and games of course for the badass connotations but in reality this is what you think when see a regular guy walk down the street in one "...****" because you know they're just trying to emulate the badass-ness but just appear pathetic and divorced from reality. the same thing goes for wearing dark shades all the time.

I got myself a Russian navy greatcoat a few years ago and people said I looked like I was in the SS. Sweet!

So you can either get a trenchcoat and be mistaken for a goth or greatcoat and be mistaken for a fascist.

Yet you ignored the fact that there might be some people on the Escapist that you have just insulted. Heck, if this was 5 years ago, you would have insulted ME. In fact, you still do a little.

Please don't be like everyone else who wears a trench coat these days. A trench coat is part of an outfit. This outfit includes slacks and, at the very least, a collared shirt, if not a tie. you don't want to look like some sort of gigantic poopsocking neckbearded douche.

i bet a lot of school districts don't know the difference.
Thats the point. ;)
no, the point is they don't care if you're wearing a trenchcoat or a duster, they'll make you take it off anyway. and if you try to argue semantics instead you'll probably just get suspended.

The last time I wore a trench coat was when I impersonated Rick Astley, and Rick Rolled my entire school. Fun times.

Fact is, if I (and a lot of other people) see someone in a trench coat I am gonna assume your a goth. This is the way of humans, generalization and labling is just somthing we do.

There was a shooting threat written on the bathroom wall in my highschool once, and the vice-principal takes me aside one day and asks if I could stop wearing my trenchcoat for awhile, I ask why, and he says that I'm making people nervous with the threat written in the bathroom at all. In retrospect, it's pretty funny, but I was pissed at the time... haha
