Ya, I will keep tabs on this game.

To be completely honest, I do not know. I was just making the comparison of Art/Graphic design, but I know how people here react to Halo...Balobo said:Wasn't Tribes out before Halo?MagicMouse said:I'm just going to come out and say it. That picture looks very much like halo.

Look, Starsiege: Tribes came out in 1998, that was 3 years before Halo, and I think you may be stepping on a lot of peoples' toes when you suggest that Tribes is somehow a Halo clone.MagicMouse said:To be completely honest, I do not know. From the TribalWar Wiki: Skiing is the accumulation of speed through jumping on the downslope and jumping in conjunction with jetting on the upslope. It can be performed in any armor, though it is most forgiving in light armor. It's used primarily to traverse large distances quickly and gain momentum, but can also be used to gain altitude.RootbeerJello said:...Skiing?
Anyway, this looks promising. Maybe they'll be able to make Tribes Tribes, since they didn't do too well making Global Agenda Tribes. Zing.
Exactly. A tribes MMO could be a success, but in order to do so they'll have to focus on the "persistent world" aspect of the game rather than the "level up your character through kills!" mechanic that so many other FPS games try to push.Atmos Duality said:Hmm. This could either turn out to be one of my only high points of the year (in terms of game announcements) or just another one of those times when all I can do is shake my head and wonder "Why?"
The letters 'MMO' are an automatic warning flag to me for three reasons:
1) Subscription
2) Grind
3) Mandatory Interactions with the Inevitable Band of Online-Assholes
("This aint your daddy's Tribes", though God bless the original Tribes community for actually being fun, reasonable, and decent human beings in comparison to anything today)
And the words "Persistent Shooter" translate directly into "Spawn Camping Bots".
I've played some cheaper web-browser based persistent shooters..spawn camping was a serious problem there. Doubly so if there was an additional incentive to do so.
Australian developed FPS series that owned the shit out of Halo by doing everything that Halo did before Halo did. AND DOING IT BETTER, sort of. Halo does have better AI. Pick up the Tribes:Vengence demo to see why this game was so good. It's still around on the internet, somewhere.sooperman said:I'd never heard of Tribes until just now, but a shooter MMO sounds like my kind of game.
Better keep my eye on this one...
Or better yet, just download Tribes 2, like I did a few weeks ago. The entire game was released for free.Isaac The Grape said:Australian developed FPS series that owned the shit out of Halo by doing everything that Halo did before Halo did.
