Best: A tootsie bar. Not just a little tootsie roll, but a full sized one foot tootsie bar. Delicious.

Worst: Corn.

Alcohol. At one of the houses in my sister's neighborhood (they live in a gated community) there was a little haunted house set up in the garage. While my niece and nephew were going through, the dad was giving out the adults who were walking around with the kids mixed drinks and beer at a little bar he had set up out front.

When I was a kid, the best thing I ever got was a little toothpaste and toothbrush kit from a dentist's house (really- I thought it was cool). The worst came from the same house the year before- the most godawful tasting sugar free candies ever.

Best- A whole bowl of Tootsie Pops and Smarties for being the very last trick or treater that stopped by and she didn't want the rest. Hey, getting a late start has its advantages.

Worst- A cactus. Seriously, a potted cactus.

But Corn is awesome... you know it's the only vegetable to grow in every state in the US... even Alaska and Hawaii...

The worst thing: A penny.
I remember ringing the doorbell to this one particularly big house, and an stiff , scowling, old woman answered the door. I even remember what she was wearing. A knit pink cardigan and gray tweed long skirt. I could see all the crucifixes in the background and she was playing some holy, God-like, music. She didn't look all that pleased to see me, or my parents, but gave me a penny. Then slammed the door on us. Not one smile was given. Not even a small one. I don't even know why she bothered to keep her lights on, or even answer the door in the first place if she was so angry about it all.

Best thing: Half a large bag of caramel green apple lollipops.
It was getting pretty late and that house had all this candy left and just handed it over to me. They explained that they were tired and couldn't be bothered to keep answering the door to the older kids who were usually late-comers. They then closed the door on my glee, and shut off their lights.

One time I got five pounds.
That probably doesn't seem much to you, but for a five year old kid who is poor and has never held more than a one pound coin, that feels like a goddamn fortune.
I was ready to enter the real estate market. It was the best halloween ever.

The worst, I suppose, was the year I got nothing.
Well, not nothing. My friend's sister gave me and him what she didn't want. A bag of stale, unflavoured popcorn and an apple with mold on it.
Still, that kinda sucked.

The best? A normal sized Aero bar, back when I used to live in England, 6 years ago, which was also the last time I went Trick or Treating...

The worst, probably a single chocolate flavored lollipop. I hate chocolate lollipops.

I'm hoping to get a good haul this year, but then I'll be lucky if I get anything in this city...

My best was literally a mini bag of goodies, had about 4 fun sized choc bars and a few assorted lollies (guess where I went first the year after).

The worst (or best, depending on the way you interpret it) was a can of baked beans. They were a nice brand, but I'm not a beans fan.. My mate on the other hand was ecstatic about it.

Best: A ten-ounce gourmet chocolate bar with mint. It. Was. Godly.

Worst: A Chick Tract explaining the dangers of Halloween and how Jesus is a pretty cool guy what saves sinners and doesn't afraid of anything. Damned wrinkled old conservative fundamentalist knobs, luring small children with the promise of candy and sending them away with religious propaganda.
