So. Anyone want to take a guess at what the surprise is? Besides 'nothing', of course.
Dunno - it doesn't seem terribly well protected, though - essentially I just did
Code:
setInterval(function() {jQuery("#butt").click();}, 250 );
and I was able to start generating 4 clicks per second (one every 250 milliseconds). Seems I can't do more than that but I can't be bothered to check why - if I have a lower interval (I tried 10ms first) it just doesn't register all of them. I would assume it probably just can't handle all the requests or something.
Sill, even if I move at this pace, it would take me a lot of time to generate all by my own. The counter is currently at ~126 700 000. Even if we just round this up to 127 million it still takes quite a while
1 000 000 000 000 total clicks - 127 000 000 current clicks = 999873000000 clicks left
999873000000 clicks left / 4 clicks per second = 249968250000 seconds left
249968250000 seconds left / 60 seconds = 4166137500 minutes left
4166137500 minutes left / 60 minutes = 69435625 hours left
69435625 hours left / 24 hours ~ 28931512 days left
And finally, if we convert 28931512 days left into years left, we get 7921 (roughly includes leap years, by the way).
That's with a single PC running, though - if you get two at once that haves the time...to about 3965 years. Adding more computers helps but with each new one, the amount of time reduced also grows smaller.
In conclusion - if I had to guess, I would say the website is meant as a trap to catch bored people with botnets at hand.
I would like to point out, though, that what clicking the button seems to do is just issue a GET request, so it's possible that one can bring down the time drastically by just manually issuing the requests (as opposed to using JavaScript in the browser). I can't be bothered to check, however.
