Bad grammar...? Sign of a bad troll. Real trolls are condescending and haughty. You're just a common flamer if you can't string a sentence together.

Trolls are people that try to provoke you and derive some sort of sick pleasure from seeing how much they upset you.

Your not going to elaborate on caps lock? What if the comment is short but the user is trying to convey a certain tone (like anger) in it that unfortunately can only be expressed through caps lock?

You kinda need to redefine what a troll is as a lot of what you said isn't trolling. You should really use urban dictionary to check what it means. Also to me it does seem atrocious that I have only seen 1 user on from 2005 in the last forever and 2 or 3 from 2007. I mean what happened to everyone from before 08.

They pretty much just say stupid shit to try to get you mad. I admit, I troll sometimes. Everything they do is for the lulz. They will stop at nothing to get there lulz. They get there lulz from making you mad.

Wow you really don't think much of people.
A)You oppinion of those with high post counts compared to how long they have been here is rediculous. Some people just have time on their hands and nothing much better to do, who gives a damn. Doesnt make them a troll.
B)As for them posting first, that is often pure luck. i find that if i click on what appears to be a new thread and that i should be able to be first, by the time i have written my post (even if its just a sentance) and posted it, you can bet the several people have gotten there before me with bigger posts.
C)The whole back-forth arguments, often dont need one of them saying the other is trolling, nor is it necesserally trolling. Usually its just someone who believes they are right and the other is wrong and go a bit too far in trying to make their point. Yes i have seen ones where it is pathetic and they are just trolling (though why the hell for is beyond me). I have seen the ones that are meant to be hurtful, quite often sickly done to the point where they have been banned or suspended for it, these are the true trolls.
D) as for using CAPSLOCK well, i use it occasionally if im showing im shouting something, whether in excitement (usually accompanied by *jumps around* or if im angry about something and want to make my point clear since noone seemed to be getting it any other way (such as when everyone was telling my fiance to "bang" his best friend. That got on my nerves and since noone was listening to him or me, i decided to "shout" at some points in my "blowing up" post

To me, trolls are people who go over board, yes your other "what makes a troll" ideas are roughly ok, but i find its more, if someone deliberatly goes out of their way to be nasty, hurtful or just say the most weirdest thing (as you say, irrelevant) on a thread.

Why that's a brilliant judging criteria you have there!.

C is pretty much the only proper criteria there to call someone troll.

A and B is way off, because as long as the user is posting appropriate and not spamming the threads, then there is nothing wrong with posting regularly and having a high post count.

Everything else pretty much is a case by case basis scenario. Not something you can scream "troll" at without judging the context of the post.
Agreed, and i love how you have used the new sarcasm character.

....wow and banned well sucks for that guy, but people get put on probation all the time for putting first even if they contribute. It just an annoying thing people try to weed out.
He just put that at the bottom of his own post in red lettering for humor. It doesn't say "banned" under his profile picture.
I guess that explains why the post is still shown.... well thanks for that info.

"A) Posts first frequently on threads"

I sorta agree with you. But then again its not a very big deal

"B) Has an obscenely high post count compared to how long they've been here."

Not at all.

"D) Posts something completely irrelevant. (I rarely see this on the Escapist)"

Bananas!

"E) Types with bad grammar and/or spelling, or types in Aim Talk, Leet, or any other foreign internet tongue."

YEA FUCK YOU FOREIGNERS!

"F) Uses swearing, sexism, racism, or other types of explicit content very often, or unnecessarily."

Sorta agree

"G) Quotes somebody more than twice in a back-and-forth argument, suggesting that they are trolling"

This is called a discussion

"H) USES CAPSLOCK!!!1"

*Looks ar answer to E.*

I've been guilty of trolling a number of times haha. But that's because I don't really see the problem with it

I've also been guilty of D quite a few times too, but that's coz I've been high as fuck. I shouldn't be let near the computer when I'm high D=

I don't get how arguing and using caps lock is trolling though. That's just fucking stupid

I consider trolls in all simplicity to be ones who have taken a different role than they really are, mainly to provoke others.
