Wow, I really like where they've taken the design. Though I hope they introduce bit of variety somewhere: while I did really like the aesthetic of the glass landscape doted with the occasional jagged mountainscape, it would get boring after a while. Maybe the city will have something different?
What I'm even more interested with is the story, I'd like to see if it carries on from the original.
I haven't seen the first Tron yet, but I know a lot of what was in this trailer from references in other things. I might have to watch the first one now, though, because this trailer looks really pretty cool.
I also read on Wikipedia that Daft Punk are making the soundtrack and John Hurt's going to be in it. If that's true, I'll be super stoked. Right now, without having seen the first Tron, I'm just regular-stoked.
If MCP makes a return, it won't be anything like the original, which gives me the shivers-that-are-evil-but-good. That end of the teaser makes me wonder where Flynn stands. Only thing that would make this OMGthisispurewin is if Bruce Boxleitner returns as well. After all he played the title character. But I would watch it for just Jeff Bridges at the least.
Okay what the hell did I just watch? . I've never even heard of Tron, other than seeing the poster in the Tv show "Chuck".

Okay that didn't help either. Anyone care to give me the rundown on the appeal of this movie? Cause what I just saw looked like some 1/3rd finished animation set in a plain looking universe.

TRON was the movie that concieved the idea of a human being going 'into' a computer world, and that 'programs' were people like entities in and of themselves (and played by the same actor as the person who programmed them). It pioneered ideas that we'd later see in the Matrix (among other movies), as well as creating some of the geekiest but still awesome sets and costumes in movie history (and the special effects were damn impressive for its day). It was full of computer-in-jokes that no one got in 1984 (like a character named Bit, who only answered YES or NO), and kinda sorta accurately represented the way computers function (emphasis on kinda sorta).

This is probably the most iconic scene from the movie.
plot synopsis of TRON 1:
The story is about Flynn (Jeff Bridges) a computer programmer that made a bunch of hit video games but had his ideas stolen by Dillinger, a guy who went on to become CEO of some big evil company. Dillinger had made a Master Control Program [MCP, also Moses from South Park], a program designed to control over all other programs, so that the internets will be under his control, but an up and coming young programmer has designed a program named TRON, sort of a Norton Antivirus that will police the internets and bring down the MCP. So, Flynn ends up trying to hack the MCP, and somehow ends up inside the computer, and the plot goes from there.

No Flynn is a good guy, but it wont be obvious at first
major spoilers:
The main character in Flynn's son, and he goes into the computer because the Encom company needs to take out a 'Tron' virus that is attacking their attempt to control all communication. Of course, Tron is actually a good guy, but Flynn's son doesnt realize that, kills him, only to later realize that hes on the wrong side - so he teams up with his dad, who is conveniently leading a group of freedom fighters, to defeat the bad guy, with Flynn's son becoming the new 'Tron.'
Keep in mind that the script review I read could be 100% bogus and full of shit.
Yes, I am a huge Tron nerd, but still nowhere near as bad as this guy:

I'm glad they are making the title up-to-date. The original movie had a pretty good premise, but lacked the visual effects capable today. The movie could have been so much more, in essence, a Matrix before it's time.
