This will probably involve Cheech and/or Chong.
But Daft Punk is making the music, so I'm watching.
They are?
Daft Punk and and Jeff Bridges, I am so gonna see this movie.

Isn't this the exact same trailer we got at last years Comicon? Except for the changed title, of course.

Better quality though, since last year's trailer was leaked through camera footage.

Why do people feel the need to remake the classics? Leave them in a trophy case please.
Well, if you want to get picky, it's not a remake, it's an actual sequel. So take that with what you will.

Yeah Daft Punk is. If anyone still counts Billboard as news. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/daft-punk-scores-tr2n-soundtrack-1003947855.story#/bbcom/news/daft-punk-scores-tr2n-soundtrack-1003947855.story

27 years to make a sequel, it damn well better blow my socks off... Is it just me, or has Jeff Bridges' character become a bad guy? I guess we'll find out.

Great line for a teaser. "It's just a game!" I think Disney has a chance for a comeback without Pixar.
I'm a little surprised, as it goes, Disney always used one of their banner companies like Touchstone or Buena Vista for all it's non-kiddie related stuff. I think this is actually the first film for older audiences I've seen them put their primary logo on.

Okay what the hell did I just watch? . I've never even heard of Tron, other than seeing the poster in the Tv show "Chuck".

Goes to Google

Okay that didn't help either. Anyone care to give me the rundown on the appeal of this movie? Cause what I just saw looked like some 1/3rd finished animation set in a plain looking universe.
Ok. TRON was made by Disney back in '82. It's one of the first films to ever use CG and possibly one of the few that doesn't suffer from Pac Man Fever [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PacManFever]. This is a time where the idea of this

was the epitome of computer graphics.

Before Neuromancer, this was THE film that attempted to turn "hacking" or "phreaking" into a fantasy where it was used for positive things. The only one I can remember prior to that was WarGames (which was pure Nightmare Fuel [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NightmareFuel]) and this horrific Famous Five with computers called Whizkids(?).

What you're looking at in TRON is the real birthplace of computer graphics in film. There's the usual Disney version of the Monomyth [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monomyth], but with characters played with such grace that you actually feel sorry for the poor accountancy programs sent to play in the gladiatorial field. (Given how fast Lotus 1-2-3 worked, I'm surprised it didn't have a Light Tricycle with stabilizers)

(Remember, this is way before Microsoft were even thought of, even before MS-DOS. Traveller, the Space version of D&D, thought that navigation computers for spaceships would be as big as a wardrobe and carry a MASSIVE 16k worth of memory.)

It also has the rare privilege of having video games based on the film that are actually really good. Most computer systems anywhere have a version of "Snake" on them, which is basically the same as the "Light Cycles" from TRON.

TRON is to computer movies as The Blues Brothers is to car chases, as Planet of the Apes is to twist endings, as Macgyver is to corny plots. It's where it was first done in such a way as to "wow" viewers.

Epic postage
Okay that was a lot better than reading the wiki. Still not sure if I should be psyched for this movie or not but I'll wait and see.

This is my opinion - the new trailer didn't seem to have any of that old charm of the first TRON.

I mean, glowing Frisbee battles and giant heads worked in the first TRON because everything had that slightly cartoony feel. The first movie wasn't exactly slick - it's remembered more for its look (which is very 80's) than story.

I just don't think making TRON "dark, gritty, and more real" (which is the impression I got from the trailer) is the right way to go. People just don't take TRON very seriously.

Gimme MCP.
Yesssssssssssss.

I love Tron and am champing at the bit to see this new Tron. Gimme, gimme, gimme now now now. Though I'm guessing they'll remove the religious overtones, which is part of what made the first Tron so interesting.

On the other hand, here's hoping they don't have people running around in Spandex suits. *shudder*

Oh, lawdy, yes. It's all about faith in the great, unseen power known as the User.

I wonder if they're going to deal with the move away from Mainframes to node-based processing at all, or if they'll just turn a blind eye to the fact that there could technically be many seperate but connected 'worlds' rather than one big large one. Of course, you'd still have to an MCP to run it all, and definitely a Sark to be the evil henchman.

And Recognizers. GOTTA have Recognizers.
