I think if I was trying to make America look bad I could come up with better ammunition than a small amount of the population saying ridiculous things.

Just because something isn't pro-american doesn't mean it's anti-american, I didn't say "Americans are clearly stupid" as other people have in this thread. I said that some Americans had been saying these things, not ALL Americans.
First off, in your OP, you actually state that "a fair amount of Americans" believe this, which implies that you believe the number is not small. You also use the word "torrent" to describe the number of comments, which then implies not just a non-small number, but a large number. That doesn't exactly come off as a belief that this only applies to a small percentage of the population.

Second, it seems like you meant it as an anti-American thing given the timing and the general attitudes of the forum, which if you've been around the forum lately, you could have been pretty easily able to pick up on. If you really believed that it is just a small number of Americans who believe this, and didn't want people to associate these ideas with the country at large, you could have been clearer in your OP about it. Sure, some would ignore it and rag on the US anyway, but it wouldn't leave the impression that that's what you wanted. I know that not every thread about the US or any country at all should be a good thing, but the way this OP was worded doesn't exactly read right to me.

This selfishness and complete disregard for human life makes me sick. It actually makes me want to vomit.

Insensitive pricks. I thought that's what Hiroshima was about? How would they like it if I said Hurricane Katrina was revenge for the whole war of independence thing?

Hardly surprising, though I find it hilarious that they celebrate the misfortune of a country with which they have strong economic and strategic interests. I'd say the nukes and the surrender was enough of a lesson, but then again at least they aren't calling for the extermination of all asiatic untermenschen for the sake of creating American lebensraum.

Oy vay frist off it would be "Earth quake "payback" for Pearl Harbour" but thats just silly because we fcking nuked them, let me rephrase that we did with 2 planes a bit more damage than 50 of them, not only that it took the wind out of their revived warrior culture.

Now another thing if anything the statement should read "Tsunami "payback" for living on a volcano" and even that is half right.

I swear sometimes I think humanity should never be allowed out of the stone age...

You know I always thought that being the only nation ever nuked was payback for their war-crimes and treachery. Also somehow I doubt that this is more than a few anons on 4chan just doing what they do.

God dammit, how does these people's minds work?
Simple:
To them, the US is God's favored nation above all other countries.
So, to them, attacking the US is roughly equal to attacking God.
And, in their version of Christianity, God doesn't like to be f--ked with.
So, to them, God harnessed the powers of nature to get back at the Japanese for something they did over 60 years ago, despite the US nuking two cities and killing hundreds of thousands around 4 years after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

What's ironic, is that most of these people are probably writing these pieces of distilled ignorance and hate on a computer that was designed in Japan or by a Japanese company.

Jonabob87, you have created a thread that seems to promote hate onto an intended group of people, and unintended groups by association. Some posters have even entertained the idea of killing them, and in response to that I think it would be best if you try to take this thread down.

On a related note the loss suffered by Japan is a tremendous toll upon them. But the people you have mentioned in your link are entitled to their own opinions on the situation, and should not be verbally prosecuted for them. In actuality most of these posts on the thread are talking about the group you have mentioned when it's very comparable to what that group has said about Japan; in the sense that both are promoting very immoral behavior/responses towards each other.

Poor Japan.
They give us a lot of different magnificient entertainment, delicious food items and many awesome technological household items.
Yet there are people who go saying such horrible things.
Japan, hang in there. T^T

Sounds like the Westboro Baptist church's been keepin busy.
My thoughts exactly.

And I'd like to be able to say that most of us are reasonable people and don't think like this...except every time I look at a news article regarding this on Yahoo that allows user comments, it proves me wrong. There are a good amount of stupid, hateful people and there's nothing much that can be done about them, except not give them the time of day or an ounce of our attention.

But as long as their words continue to outrage, people will pay attention to and repeat what they say. So yeah...endless cycle.

Oh sure because the incendiary bombings, Hiroshima and Nagasaki weren't enough.

Seriously, it's people like these that make living in America embarrassing.

People, this is the sort of shit that gives America its bad name. I understand that it's just a minority (well, I hope it is :p) but shit, you've gotta realise that that sort of mouthing off isn't going to do your world cred any favours :/ I don't think I've ever heard of any nations whose people can be so crass :/

Taking a tragic situation and turning it into utter stupidity...congrats, you have to work for that sort of ignorance!
