i always find these people strange. basically what they are stating is that they hate themselves.
Then of course we have a whole subreddit for people like this:
http://www.reddit.com/r/TumblrInAction/
But of course there is too many to make a thread on.
This is how serial killers and mass shooters are born. Tumblr is a strange and scary place.
WHY UTRAWINKLE WHY! And I thought I had already lost all faith in humanity... To be honest, I'm not surprised by the anti white/male stuff, but the amount of stuff targeted at trans folk, by OTHER trans folk, is scary. Bashing the powerful, sure, but bashing other marginalized groups is just messed up.
In this case, it seems to be a segment of people that want to be trans without actually having dysphoria, desiring to transition, and identify as a large number of different genders that change on a day to day basis, that and using a truly staggering number of pronouns to describe themselves.
The FtM and MtF trans crowd is somewhat understandably miffed at the idea because it's a group of people calling themselves transgender even though they have no actual intention of ever transitioning and seem to have redefined the term transgender from someone who is genuinely uncomfortable with their birth gender, to someone who acts a little outside standard gender roles, so they've decided to call themselves genderfluid or demigendered, or one of a thousand designations that mean almost the same thing.
The older transgender community calls the new ones "tucutes" which generally refers to the belief that some people who identify as non-binary are people are co-opting transgender beliefs to look cute or cool. Some members of the newer non-binary version of transgender call the older crowd "truscum" as a way to insult what they see as a rigid belief structure that insults their identity.
Mix in the radical feminism movement, and not what the Escapist considers radical feminism these women actually call themselves radical feminists, who are referred to as TERFs (Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminists) and you've got an even bigger clusterfuck. On top of the normal hate directed at transgender people, this branch of feminism sees FtM as traitors to their cause, and views MtF as fake women who can't be trusted. Yeah, the transitioning transgender crowd still gets a lot of shit from all angles.
As for TiA, it used to be better, I subbed back when it had less than 15k member (god that makes me feel like a hipster), and the influx of people has brought in a lot of people who keep falling for troll blogs over and over again. It seems like every week theres a wall of posts from a blog where the owner is either blatantly being satirical, or it ends up on the troll blog list because browsing the blog at all quickly reveals that the author is just trying to piss people off.
The number of repeats is also a little worse now, and like half the submissions can be boiled down to a small group of a couple dozen repeat bloggers, I think between Misandry Mermaid, This is thin Priviledge, and Red, make up about 10% of the submissions by themselves.
The change to policy for posts that requires a screenshot makes sense since you don't want to give traffic to some of these places, but it kind of creates an atmosphere where you can't help but wonder if any of the images are being faked or modified for karma, although it does improve longevity since more than a few blogs featured end up deleting their posts if they get too many negative notes against them.
Still, its not a bad subreddit, the mods are great there, and generally try to keep the subreddit from going too offtopic.
