Anyone can click attack, you don't even need to aim.
Yawn... two words: Strategy, Tactics. I'll add another for free: Management.godofallu said:Turn based combat is soooo boring, not to mention no skill needed to win.

As I once argued though, Chess and Turn based RPGs are usually different. Chess is set in stone style, while most if not all RPGs have chance factored in. Does that move do 50 damage, or does it critical this time and KO the enemy? There are no critical hits in chess.Monkeyman8 said:you don't like turn based combat? CHESS, that is all
I agree with you. All the turn based RPG games I love...are gameboy ones (Dragon Warrior, Pokemon, Golden Sun)Ironic Pirate said:I don't like turn based for most games.
A handheld game? Fine, control with those can be finicky (where the fuck'd the other analog stick go, PSP?) and the ability to render large scale battles is lacking.
On console and non-shitty computer, though, I don't like it, it doesn't seem fun at all.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Apocalypse and interceptor were terrible. However if you like X-Com chances are you'll love Jagged Alliance, available at Good Old Games I think all of the games in the series are there, but 2 is the most polished. For an even more updated squad based turn based strategy Silent Storm is pretty good if a little... broken. There are mods available which can get rid of the silly elements if they bother you.number2301 said:Turn based games are alright by me where they're tactical, X-COM et al do this right. Fallout 1 and 2 do not. The JRPG 'press X every 5 seconds' system baffles me.
You know, it's really nice when you're in some kind of conflict where you keep getting beat and a change of tactics can change the outcome. In the early Fallouts and JRPGs you have no option but to go away and do something else for a while. Where's the skill in that?
Apocalypse was pretty good, and Interceptor was cool if a little different.Fusionxl said:There have been plenty of other successful games with turn based combat.
Motherfucking X-COM!
I wish someone made a worthy successor to the first two.![]()
Jagged Alliance 2 has some hilarious glitches/bugs in it. Watching my mate play it one day and he could see an enemy on the other side of a building through the windows, so being a smart arse about it I told him he should use a throwing knife. Two seconds later and we watch the knife fly up over the building and come back down and take the guy out.octafish said:Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Apocalypse and interceptor were terrible.
