Hello there Escapees! Now then, the other day I was watching TV (Im british by the way!) and I was amazed to see the black eyed peas shocked as Alan Carr spoke such bad language on natioal TV! Now then in britain after 9pm bad language and adult references are allowed o TV but in America only one or two swear words are allowed to be used in one show. This si the difference between America And Britain which I find rather amusing!

That's not the difference, a more major difference is the articulated lorry, which we sane people of America refer to as a semi-truck or simply "semi."

By the way, what are you trying to say?

Back off, bulldog. It's off-topic. He can say what he wants.

Grabby, America's full of people who overprotectively worry that TV can brainwash people into psychos, which is hand-in-hand with all those arguments about video game violence. In short, the FCC is full of shit and completely stupid. And for that, it's one reason why I like what's on the BBC.

I know that it's off-topic, but it's still off-topic discussion. I doesn't matter that much, but I did want to see if he was going to incite some discussion. Just out of interest.

I think that's why American's get so freaked out when they come to England and find out that most of us use swearwords in every sentence.

Watershed.

Was there ever a sweeter word in the whole of the English language? I think not.
agreed 100%,that being said, tv shows seem to be able to get away with more and more recently pre-watershed

Dont forget Canada gets stuck with roughly the same amount of censorship bullshit as the states.

We in the States are too full of dip-shits and oversensitive asshole who do nothing but ***** because nothing is their way. Oh my god! Titties on TV! Hide the kids! Sue the companies! Whats next on TV? Saving Private Ryan? Uncensored! Well it's historical, so it's okay. Let their be violence. How about this? Turn the TV off if you don't like what you see. It's the button marked power, on/off, or even has a little symbol of a partial circle with a line going halfway down the middle. I get so fucking sick of these pricks bitching about shit like that...

One or two swear-words?

Do they mean one or two instances or bad language or one or two words that have been approved for use on that show?

Near as I can figure, it's one or two specific words, not instances of it being uttered on t.v. On "The Cleaner" and "Rescue Me", the word 'shit' was uttered a bunch of times in the episodes I watched last night, along with the words '*****' and 'Godd---it'. but never the effing f-word. That one's a no-no.

I hear that one of the reasons that watershed doesn't exist in the States is also a logistics one.
The problem is that, while the UK is situated in one timezone, the States has the problem that there is a 3 hour difference between the two coasts, so by the time watershed would start in the east at 9:OO PM, it would already be 11:00 PM on the west coast, making simultaneous show broadcasts a bit of a nightmare. Or so I heard.

Oh, and that goes without mentioning the religious nuts, overprotective parent groups and censorship fanatics.
