Clueless politicians are once again clueless. What else is new? They obviously didn't even check the sales of some of the more recent games. Gaming industry makes more money than movie industry.
To be honest any tax break is going to get alot of flak what with the UK's spending cuts its nearly impossible to justify a tax break in times like this also the industry is hardly falling on hard times as evident by its high sales. High sales + High taxes = More money.
Also most voters arnt gamers so its going to look very iffy if they are lowering EMA (which helps towards paying for kids to stay in school past 16) and then at the same time cutting tax breaks for the VG industry.

Be careful, some of those are companies that did exist but don't any longer (i.e., Bullfrog Productions). Still, the UK gaming industry is a powerful one, and which has a lot of potential for development. To be fair to the government the games industry will be getting a form of tax break in the UK - corpration tax is dropping 4% over 4 years (I think that's the right figure anyway) so while it's nothing huge, hopefully it will encourage some growth in all sectors, not just the games industry.
