Well I missed out on the first, so I'll be sure to check out the sequel whenever it comes out. I've heard great things about the original...

Edit: Just checked if it was on steam, and it's only a fiver! I'm so getting it now...

Pleasepleaseplease don't let this be another Duke Nukem Forever. Beyond Good & Evil is the game I pick as the best answer to the 'games as art' question.
The way the game ended left it open for a very interesting sequel possibility. I sorely want it to see the light of day.

They are putting time and effort into the game development instead of DNFing us over. Good.

With the original Beyond Good and Evil having such a cult following, however, the risk involved in a sequel seems relatively low.
Actually I think the risk may be greater because the cult following it has is very passionate about the game and if they muck it up the people who are the followers will make sure everyone knows how bad they mucked it up in very loud voices.

OT: Please take your time but make sure that it is released and as good as the first one I loved this game so much.

Ubisoft better promote this like it's the Second Coming or something.

There was no excuse for their lack of support (they pitted the original directly against the release of Sands of Time.) I really hope they do great things with this game, they could potentially make a game better then Zelda or Outcast (both incredible achievements, though Outcast is another game that didn't get the attention it deserved.) Oh, and don't forget the PC port. There was one for the original, and I expect one for this game too. Don't leave us PC gamers in the dust Ubisoft.

What I took away from this: "Ubisoft is making Beyond Good and Evil 2".

Ubisoft, listen. If you take off your DRM, I will pre-order the biggest special edition of this game that you have. I will gladly give you my money for this game, but for the love of all that is holy don't put your DRM on it.

If that game in the picture is BG&E 2, it's already a failure. Jade was baddass, but she wasn't the chick from Mirror's Edge. Also, I seem to remember be a mechanic about taking pictures of planetary inhabitants, including all the animal/alien people. That city in that picture has almost no resemblance to the original planet or gameplay.

That picture is from this "gameplay" video. It's been arround for some time now. And no, it does not resemble the frist game that much, however jade was pretty agile, and mirror's edge was on some very interesting ideas, i think it could work.

Guillemot says that developer Michel Ancel plans to come out with something very exciting, and hoped that people could be patient while he made the game "perfect." The original Beyond Good and Evil wasn't a strong seller when it was released in 2003, but become increasingly popular as the years went on. Guillemot said that he felt the game's disappointing sales were because it was a little too ahead of its time.
Here we have typical developer narcissism people. Nooo it wasn't our fault that the game was so niche it never had a chance with the zero publicity we gave it! In fact it was awesome! Too awesome for people to comprehend! Riggght. We'll just wait and see how "perfect" your new game will be Mr. Ancel. And how namy sales it'll achieve.

Well, if things go well with Steam, you might have your wish.

Note* I'm probably one of the few that never played the first game...

The game was finished two years ago. They've spent the time since working on draconian DRM that will require a constant internet connection to a server that's only operational at four randomly chosen hours of the day for single player mode and will periodically ask you to forward Ubisoft a package containing samples of your blood and spinal fluid for undisclosed purposes.
i sure hope not ! hahaha, but it is probable they have the game ready now....

It's a shame that, because it's really really good. Look around for a copy, they're not as hard to find as Team ICO games (SotC for £21 in CeX! ARGH!)

Perhaps, but I've heard its only for Ruse. I really hope they take it out of every future game though.

I remember getting the original on Gamecube for about 20 dollars about 6 months after its release and being stunned at how good it was. To me it is the only game of its kind that genuinely challenged my beloved Zelda series. Given how long I've been waiting (6+ years) I really don't care if it takes another or two, I just want it.
