Hello guys, this thread is to list your favorite computer pranks. Now we are all capable of doing pretty funny and mean things to others computers, be it a harmless prank or one that does a lot of damage. So tell me what funny pranks have you pulled on your friends?

Here's mine,i was in my computer technology class and we were a small group of 8 and out of the 8, 3 people didn't know a thing at the start of the course.(i was one of the 3) a bit further in about a month or so we got the whole class(not including the one being prank)even the teacher on our little plan. So we went on his work computer created a folder called "gay animal porno" did a print screen then set that as his background and then deleted the folder. So by this point he was still rather clueless of computer stuff. He walked back into the room to find what we have put there and panicked and tried to delete it. The teacher who was in on the whole thing walks by and started giving him loads of shit, just to add to the prank and threatened to take his work computer rights away from him, hence failing the class. We couldn't keep the prank up though, we all busted out laughing and he found out it was a good gag and we showed him how we did it.

So escapists, share your stories with me.

Some Dell computers have a key combination that flips the screen upside-down. This included the computers at my high school. All you need to do is hit the same key combination again to fix it, but nobody knows what it is.

we did that to my teacher once or twice and she could never find out what we did. She got our school technician to look at the computers and every thing.

I switched my brother's keyboard with an identical broken one, and then when it wouldn't work I said I know whats wrong, then I smashed it with a hammer. He was freaking out until I told him what happened.

Set a thrash metal song to play on a login screen, then turn the speakers up to maximum. Then, you wait and listen.

That's all I have, I'm not very malicious.

My school does a couple of things, but I wouldn't regard them as pranks really:
-They lock the computer by logging in incorrectly.
-They add spaces to the password slot, then put the cursor back to the beginning.
-They simply Ctrl+Alt+Dlt your ass if you look away.

Hmm well I'm sure that most people know about the snipping tool on Vista that allows you to take pictures of the desktop and other programs. I used that to take a screen shot of my friends normal desktop with all the icons, set it as his background, hid his icons and then sat back and laughed as he spent 15 minutes attempting to click on the background images. He was pretty new to Vista at the time and I had to stop him from calling the company he had recently bought the computer from for help.

Yeah, we do this at work to all the new people... hilarious every time, especially when they leave their machines unlocked when they get up... can also lead to multiple emails sent to the managers about how much they love them.

A favourite prank of some of my acquaintances is to trick you into leaving your computer/laptop, like using that cunning ruse "Hey, go get me a beer, yeah?" and then changing the open internet page onto some site like the infamous video accompanied by the "You Spin Me Right 'Round" Song, minimize the screen and wait for you to return.

*Shudder*

I have a laptop that my mom borrows frequently. I also have a wireless mouse that I use. One time she borrowed my laptop (she didn't have the wireless mouse) I hid behind a corner and started rolling the mouse over my palm, making the pointer on the screen move. She started freaking out when the pointer moved on it's own

Ctrl+Alt+Down arrows=Flip upside down

Ctrl+Alt+Up arrow=Flips it the right way.

Somehow a friend of mine.. Turned the screen to the left.. (Which was okay, because the computer screen could be turned so that it was legible.)

If you plug in a second keyboard to a nearby computer, you can have some fun.
They are just typing something when
SEVEN DAYS
and then halfway through a word their keyboI'M WATCHING YOU
At which point they start panicking
An then you hold backspace, and all of their work vanishes.
(I've pulled this one twice)
A less serious option is to hook another keyboard up, but every so often hit space or capslock (or backspace)

This, but if you keep hammering the arrows for about 30 seconds (depending on your finger speed) you can get it to spin for up to 10 minuets

Also another good one for school, Take the monitor to tower (or whatever they're called) plugs out of two computer and swap them. The look on peoples faces is priceless :)

Also another great one, which requires some skill, if physically steal a quite noticable large piece of the computer, preferably the monitor, and if its hidden well it can be hilarious.

Also prying the keys out of keyboards and swapping the letters round is fun

I can't believe no-one has pulled the Alt-F4 trick yet.

"How do I get this to work?"
"Oh, just press Alt-F4."

We pulled that with my boss once. the accountant had to come down to fix it. (he's a computer whiz)

It was hilarious, when he asked us about it we told him to unplug the monitor and plug it back in upside down. He bought it.

Rather than messing with screen settings, I've made extensive use of this:

http://www.ex-parrot.com/~pete/upside-down-ternet.html

When I was a helldesk operator for a national transport company, I had users do some funny stuff including

* Lick the screen
* An entire depot (ok they're from Melbourne we won't hold it against them), so about 20 people, couldn't find the "any" key despite my insistence.
* degauss the keyboard
* duct tape the TCP window

I've also been known to drop every 23rd packet of data out of boredom. Considering my birthday is tomorrow, my boss is lucky he won't be in the office - I already had a MiTM set up and ready to screw with his internet connection and rewrite his MSN.

So instead, my girlfriend is going to cop the full force of my hatred for my birthday, and have to deal with her internets going nuts.
