Nothing beats taking a picture of the desktop as it is, and then making that the desktop background and deleting all of the icons on said desktop. Watch as the person attempts to click on any and all icons and panics as they can't even get to the start menu.

A couple of friends of mine know how to edit the boot program in a computer to continuously open command prompt screens for as long as the person is logged on. There was about 7 screens opened up per second until about 30 were open, and then the computer started slowing down, yet it still kept opening windows. No damage was actually dealt, as they did the deed on a computer on which the user knew what to do. In fact, the teacher told them to do something like that. I never asked them about it, so don't ask me how to do it.

What a coincidence. That was also a mainstay for our class, yet we were smart enough to keep folders to a minimum on the desktop. We called this prank "sausaging", mainly because we replaced the background image with bratwurst or other such things. One time, my teacher left their computer logged on, so some "troublemakers"(a.k.a., my friends who know how to do my above mentioned comment) replaced his desktop with a My Little Pony image. That's all they did to him, though.

My favourite thing to do is walk around the school library or in class if we're using computers and put on high contrast mode, it pisses people off so much and I'm the only one who can do it.

My mate was at a gaming LAN and the people there rearranged the buttons on his keyboard to say "you wanker".

Rather amusing :D
I did something like that to my old roommate, who always bragged that he could "touch type" and never had to look at his keyboard, so one day while he wasn't home I rearranged all the keys, it took forever but the payoff was worth it.

See you all in Hell...

Well I generally do a couple of lame ones.

First one being is to temporarily put all of the folders and stuff in the trash can.

Make a new folder.

Move it in the middle of the screen

Name it "Gay Child Pornography"

Print screen

paste to paint document

set that document as background

Put folders back

You now have a funny ghost folder. :)

I have relatives who are not very good with computers, so I often step up their computers so that I can remotely connect to their computer to fix their problems without having to run around or using the phone. I also did this for my uncle with his new laptop but did not tell him. Then on Halloween I remotely connected to my his laptop and sent him a chat message saying 'I see you...' before taking control of his mouse making it go haywire. Within seconds I got a call from my uncle sounding a little startled as his computer had started talking to him, while struggled not to burst out laughing. He did find it funny when I explained what was going on.

EDIT: Thought of another

Most people don't change there admin passords on their routers. So I when I'm at someone's house and connected to there wireless I love to log in into their router controls and have all sorts of shenanigans ensue. Examples include using the site blocker feature to block sites like google, facebook or any site they frequent. Or even better set up some schedules on the router to stop any devices connected having internet access. But the beautiful part is that you set up a couple of these spread across the day so it looks like their internet connection is randomly cutting out. Of course the smart thing to do is just reset the router or log into the settings themselves to change them back, but of course we have though of that one and change the password and the ip address where the settings are located.

Some Dell computers have a key combination that flips the screen upside-down. This included the computers at my high school. All you need to do is hit the same key combination again to fix it, but nobody knows what it is.
My workplace is full of dell computers and there is always at least one that has had the screen flipped :D

I remember tricking people to go to www.hotmale.com instead of hotmail.com on the school computers

Imagine what that displayed
