Yeah, we do this at work to all the new people... hilarious every time, especially when they leave their machines unlocked when they get up... can also lead to multiple emails sent to the managers about how much they love them.[/quote]

Nice. I do that but throw in about 10 unclosable Rick-Rolls. The ones that jump around the screen and when you hit the close button make a bunch of text boxes show up. Good times...

My dad pulled a computer prank at work that will win this forum hands down. He changed his friend's computer start-up sound to a porno audio clip of a girl climaxing and put it on high volume. They were in the library with the guy's girlfriend present when he started up his computer. You can imagine the hilarity that followed.

Do a screen capture of the desktop, save it and then set it as the background. Minimise the toolbar at the bottom and put all the shortcuts into a folder. Wait for hilarity to occur as they try to work out why the computer is broken.

that's just cruel... (great joke though)

here's one i pulled once in school. Made a .bat file that causes the shutdown-s command to be embedded into the startup sequence. result: once you start up the pc, you have 30 seconds, then it shuts down again. hilarity guaranteed, especially when installed on every computer in a computer room. the teacher freaked out!

another one i pulled. We had an intern for ICT-class, but the guy knew only what was in the books. So i was messing around with HTML a bit and made a pop-up window that said: A fata error has ocured, the core processor has overheated. please shut down the computer and wait 30 minutes for it to cool down.
They guy actually turned off my computer :D

Some Dell computers have a key combination that flips the screen upside-down. This included the computers at my high school. All you need to do is hit the same key combination again to fix it, but nobody knows what it is.
If you are using XP you can fix this with: Ctrl+alt+(Up arrow)

The keys com. change depending on the operating system so this joke never works on everyone. First time I found this I was trying to make a special symbol in my post... My neck will never be the same.

back in high school we used to have internet terminals to check up on schedule and classes. i set the start page to what used to be one of the best pages in the universe [http://piv.pivpiv.dk/ target="blank_]. the window would fly around spouting the same message, and whenever you tried to close it, 10 more windows would pop up.

then i sat back and watched as my victims came to use the terminal. then i laughed. hard. repeatedly.

A friend of mine left the course work on the computer screen I hit ctrl+f then replaced the letter "a" with "i love dragons" (we often make fun of his dragon ring, neckless etc.) Unfortuantly his teacher came back and for some reason ctrl+Z wouldnt undo it so i had to do it by hand (fastest typing i;ve done in a while)with the teacher fairly close by luckily they were talking and distracted.

Create a shortcut
In the box that comes up enter
shutdown -c -t 60 -c "Windows has detected a virus on your computer that needs urgent action. The computer will shut down and reformat your hard drive(C:) in 60 seconds"
In the next box do as following: Name it "InternetExplorer"
Then change the icon of the Shortcut to the internet logo and watch your friends die

I love playing porn tricks.

-Set the logon sound to a woman moaning.
-Set default webpage to a porn site.

Never gets old. And the panic is priceless :D

Here are my two favorites.

-Move some of the keys around on the keyboard.
-Print screen the desktop and set it as the desktop image. Now move all the folders and shortcuts behind the start bar.

I opened all of the computers in the library to run either a .bat file of 0s and 1s (in green of course) or tree /f /a

The teachers freaked out.

Then I turned all the screens upside down and logged them out, since they are all virtual the key combo is return it is off (the default), so then everybody had to log in upside down and go to the graphics properties while their screen was upside down.

Also set a long .vbs popup thing (like 300 popups, each with a different message) to run when any of the desktop icons were pressed.

This one is even better. [http://www.myit-media.de/the_end.html] Longer countdown and Arabian msuic to "set the mood."

Just don't try it on a plane.
