wait... is there other games that require a mat? Because i totaly remember playing a game with a mat that you had to run on and jump. Dont remember if it was this though.
It was this game... I think. I remember doing it myself. Then cheating at the long jump by jumping off of the mat, and eventually jumping on again (the game knew a cheater if you stayed off of the mat to long).

It was a fluke that led Dave to uncover his incredibly valuable game, but it was an even bigger fluke that left it sealed and sitting in his basement in the first place. He didn't bother opening the game because Stadium Events required a special floor mat controller to play which wasn't available when he bought it and ultimately never came to market at all...
You're not talking about the powerpad, are you?

ya I did that too lol. It would make you randomly fall down when you did that for a while. Anyway I need to find that game.

Reminds me that I payed $75 for a PS1 on eBay, and that was the cheapest possible for that game at the time. What game was it?

YOU HAVE TOMBI!!!! That game was the best. I still wish to this day I didn't trade it to a friend.

I HAD the game, but loaned it to my best friend of the time, and never saw him again. :( Now I'm out sweet riches. I don't suppose Willow, or Ghosts N Goblins are worth 41k... are they? :)

Why... Why... *sigh* Why would you pay that much for an old game? I understand collecting and all... but... still.

It boggles my mind.

NO.
Too many people bought the game that there'll be a surplus of the game.

Now do it with something like Ico...

All I have of value is an unopened Chrono Trigger for the SNES. I think it could get 300-500 but nowhere near this...

-cries-

Though I never intend on selling it.

The auction closed three days ago, but your attempt at disdainful coolness is noted.
Good, good.

Hmm alright, this appears to be a different instance of the same game being sold for an outrageous sum. A quick news search shows that the first one was sold two and a half weeks ago.

I think we get it now though. The game is worth a lot to crazy collectors.

P.T. Barnum got it so right.
True that.

What I'd be dying to ask them is "what's the point?". I don't get what this fulfills in the least. Even if I were a collector, this makes no sense, at least not at that price.
Even for the biggest nostalgia kick of your life, for $41,000 bucks the last thing I'd be doing is spending it on a game, let alone an origional NES game. But there is also a reason why Psychologists are all rich and busy. People are absolutely nuts!

From the screen shots on the box it looks just like Track & Field, which actually was released with the "special floor mat controller" ?
