Arkham City has the most Dickhead achievement I've ever encountered, without a doubt. To get it properly, the game expects you to play AC and speak to Calendar Man on specific holidays IRL, for a YEAR.
See my above point :)

To the OP, the one in Driver:SF. The cones count as hits, It was the last trophy I needed for platinum, so I took a run and knocked out all the cones first, then did it again without hitting anything and staying above 20 or whatever and it pinged.

I failed at getting one of the Kombo Khallenge trohies in MKvsDC. Fuck Dial-a-Combo, I'm so happy MK is fixed.
I thought that might be the problem but I'm sure I'e made it down there at least once without hitting cones. God knows I tried. Well I'll try again sometime.
I guarantee it will work, Use a wee Fiat 500, It'l make it a lot easier.

On the Topic of Trophies/cheevos in General, They have the potential to add a lot more to the game, but developers just can't seem to nail them, Most adventure games lists are cut and paste (Beat the game on the hardest setting, Get all collectables, kill x amount of people with x weapon) and when online comes into it they seem to enjoy putting these ridiculous circumstances (see AC:B)that when you see it you know it was "boosted" The worst trophy EVER has to be for Mortal Kombat 2011. "Master all characters"...."Mastering" a Character involes..

- 1000 Pints of blood spilled, Seems okay so far yea?
- 100 Victorys, again fair?
- 100 Fatalitys, Woah..I Have to watch the same animation 100 times? okay..
-24 hours of gameplay with each character.

There are 29 characters in the game... :| thats 29 days of solid in game time, Yea thats just great.

Several in the Halo games.

1) The vidmaster achievements with four people. FUCK that! Even if I get lucky enough to have three friends online at the same time, they either don't want to play Halo, or one of them already has the achievement.

2) Mother fucking Save This Film in Halo 3. I have gotten perfections. I have almost all the Halo 3 achievements. I played 100+ games trying to get a Perfection on the right map. Never did it, never will. (For those who don't know, Save This Film requires you to get at least 15 kills with no deaths in a Slayer game on certain maps.)

I once had a game with my friend in splitscreen where everyone lagged out except for me and my friend, so I farmed "Save This Film" I feel guilty about it now, this was when I was 14, I don't farm achievements anymore.
And the Vidmaster challenges are frustrating I remember spending weeks with my friend trying to find two more people to do it with us, only for him to do it without me while I was gone one day.

I would LOVE to farm that achievement!

I had a pretty terrible experience with the ODST vidmaster for the one where you have to do the last level, on legendary, with four people, without Warthog of Tank. We got the infinite rockets and spent about 6 hours getting through this(We had some really shitty players.) We were heading for the final dropship...... When my connection dropped.

So much rage...

"Ultimate Defender" from GRAW2, I think the REAL challenges was to actually gather a large enough group to attempt it knowing full well that by the time the requited HOUR of position defense elapsed, MOST people would have lagged out. When my group got this one, I was lucky enough to die about 15 minutes in, so the demand upon my connection diminished, so I got the achievement after 45 minutes of cheerleading the few survivors on from the grave over the mic!

the 2 i've found are with Condemned: Criminal Origins and CoD 4, both involving collectibles, I've gone through and found all on both, in condemned you need all the collectibles to unlock a secret document, which I have, and CoD 4 clearly says 30/30 Intel, but nothing on either, Just remembered a 3rd, also collectible, gold bricks in lego star wars, got them all, no achievement
I have the CoD 4 glitch. The way it works is if you have cheats enabled and you pick up you 15th or 30th intels (the amount required for the two relevant achievements), then it doesn't pop. Annoying. And the worst part is there's no way to clear the amount of intel you have, it's related to your gamertag so you can't get it by deleting your campaign saves. So basically you just can't get it.

OT: My Halo:Reach won't let me have 'If they came to hear me beg'. I must have spent several hours just trying to get it, and even after watching all the 'tips and tricks' videos I still can't get it. That's what's preventing me from getting the full 1400 in Halo:Reach.

On the whole I am a bit addicted to gamerscore. I love the initial thrill of playing through a game to get all the achievements. Although, that said, I did used to love games that rewarded you with content, not just a meta-score. For example: Timesplitters 2.
I used to play it a lot, and honestly I found it seriously fun to play through the campaign on hard. I didn't do it because I got gamerscore, I did it because I unlocked sweet characters and a massive sense of achievement. I guess the point I'm trying to make is, while the gamerscore and challenge both create a feeling of accomplishment, I think the latter is more wholesome overall.

Oh man, that one was tame compared to 'Annual' on Halo 3. It really did not help that several times a friend of mine (and it was ALWAYS the same guy) would have to go at the WORST POSSIBLE TIME. That or his crappy-ass connection would time-out. We must have done that damn level about 30 times. The worst example was when I (I was the first ghost in our column) was literally about 5 seconds from making the final jump, when he said he had to go and cut out. That pissed me off. I do now have it though, and am proud of my 1750g in Halo 3 (although I had 1750g before I got annual, the additional 0g gave me completion, which was nice)

I've never had an achievement glitchso that I couldn't get, but I have had achievements glitch where I get them for no reason. An example is the S*M*A*S*H achievement inf Team Fortress 2. Out of the blue I got it for no reason.

All the time. Whenever there's an achievement that involves online friends, I will never get it. I have no friends. Especially friends that play the same games I do.

I saved a replay in tf2 and put it on youtube. I didn't use the games uploader because it wasn't working. Got 100 views and no achievement.

How about mother fucking Little Rocket Man? The most annoying goddamn escort mission ever. At least Gnome Chompsky got his own game out of it.
I wish Valve would make that game. I took me two or three tries to get that achievement. The first time I lost him after you run into the giant maggot thing are being chased by the chopper and have to turn and was very sad. The achievements that I think are impossible in that game are Get Some Grub(I always come out of there having killed all but two or three of those things) and Neighborhood Watch. Other achievements that are impossible to get are pretty much every non-story related achievement in Chromehounds. I will forever be disappointed in SEGA for shutting down the servers on that game.
Ugh, Neighborhood Watch... two attempts and I gave up on that one. Between One Free Bullet, Little Rocket Man and the one someone else mentioned about staying off the sand, I didn't have the patience to spare!
best advice for Little Rocket Man, Keep Off the Sand, and One Free bullet is to save a lot. Watching a "how to" video also helps, but I highly suggest saving often.

You know what's even worse? I did it! I took that little bastard gnome all the way there, put him in the rocket, and didn't get the achievement. I waited for the credits to end just in case.

Boy was I pissed.

Seriously ...

Kill 10,000 people in versus ranked match total

Nobody has mentioned this infamous achievement from the first Gears of War yet?

It's probably the single-most time-consuming achievement there is, to recent memory.

About 50% of the achievements on Rogue Warrior are obtained playing online multiplayer. 50% of the achievements are therefore unattainable due to the fact that no one else plays that horrible, horrible game. Really, it's just, terrible....

This whole discussion is making me sad that I can't get into Live because I have to accept the stupid new terms of use, my account was registered when I was 14 so I have to have parental approval, and my password is apparently "not valid". Why, Microsoft? Why?

Oh no dude, it's one special day in every month of the year. Go to his cell and next to it is a calendar with certain dates circled, and those are the days you would've had to speak to him in 2011, so you need to cross over to the appropriate days in 2012. So fucking long man. The real way to get it is to fuck around with the date settings on the xbox, disconnect the box itself from the internet, speak to him on what xbox thinks is that day, then save, rinse and repeat...

I may have gotten the thread a little schewed, cause it's really quite achievable, it's just a dumb fucking achievement to have included in an otherwise pretty damn flawless game...
Really? I thought I looked at his little wall calendar and thought I noted it was all the holidays.... Hmmm. Well, I'll go for it anyway.

EDIT: I'll go for it legitimately. I figured there'd be a way to mess with the date/time settings to trick it, but that'll take the fun out of having it.

Perhaps I was wrong in saying I was an achievement "whore;" more of an "enthusiast" really. I don't play games JUST for the gamerscore; I don't play bs games just to inflate my number (ie: I haven't played Avatar,) but I do like getting as many points as possible from the games I DO play. I really enjoyed Arkham City and will not take issue popping it in for a couple of minutes every month. At the end of the day (or YEAR in this case,) it'll be an interesting achievement to bag, but I'll concur it sucks for those who don't typically keep games bafter beating them to replay them often.

Yeah, I got all three of those and saving every four feet was a must. Worst parts for Little Rocket Man were the car sequences; ValvE's epic physics engive would NOT let that little bastard stay wedged in the back window, so I had to get out and re-wedge him every couple of seconds.
