It's because two pre-established female characters play the lead in a spin-off to a franchise that has already put the main male protagonist out of commission. Hence it's pushing feminist SJW communism down our throat.
Or maybe it's because Neil Drunkman (sp?) is always going on about making his games feminist and diverse and all that? That's why they had to toss that stodgy old misogynist Amy Hennig out of Naughty Dog. Grill Powah!

Anyway, wasn't Uncharted 4 already Uncharted: Feminist Edition?

How? Because Nate got his ass kicked slightly more this time by a woman? If Hennig's departure opened the door for UC4 feminism it was lost on me, because there really wasn't any. It was actually the most grounded and tangible story of the series so far.

Besides, I don't think Druckmann is even working on this one beyond mere oversight. Probably neck deep in TLoU2 by now, which I'm hoping for a gameplay trailer of at Gamescom this week.

I wouldn't know, I don't even have a PS4. As I said above, I'm just pointing out The Druck's public preoccupation with all things feminist ever since Hennig's abrupt ejection from the team, since the topic was broached. I hate-watch his antics sometimes for complex reasons. Personally, I always preferred the cut of Ms. Hennig's jib to his.

I've been waiting for this. I felt like Nadine kind of got a raw deal by the end of the game, so I'm glad she's back. Yeah, she started out as a bad guy--and I usually have zero sympathy for the villains in almost all games--but by the end it was clear that this was a woman who was just doing her job, and it just happened to be against Drake. She showed that she could be polite and professional when she ran into Sully at the start of the game, and it was pretty clear by the end that she had lost everything and been betrayed by her own people. So yeah, I was actually excited to see her in this because I want to see if she can make some sort of come back.
Teaming up with Chloe though might not be the best way to do that...

Well, if you say so. I'm just relaying the message of the dishevelled hippy who works on those games.
And what message is that? And you do know Neil Druckmann has zero involvment in The Lost Legacy, right?

I haven't really heard more than a peep against Chloe being this game's lead. About the worst I've read is that some people would've rather had Charlie. While he was ok, he wasn't nearly as much of a fixture as Chloe though.
Just read the comments section under any Lost Legacy video on YouTube -- You'd think Margret Thatcher was starring in this game.

Jesus Christ, I agonized over something I wrote on this forum earlier for like two hours, deleting whole paragraphs to keep it lighter and at least semi-readable because I needed to say something about a terrible mistake I can see happening, because not many (probably more capable) people are showing up for the cause of reason. And a bit of throwaway snark about some silly person at Naughty Dog is what gets picked up on.

Look, some people were speculating on whether this was going to be "Uncharted: Feminist Edition". I basically said it's likely, because the public face of the studio has been signaling heavily about his feminist sensibilities. Which I find especially suspect, considering that the situation surrounding the apparently not fully amicable departure of the actual female person who wrote and directed Uncharted 3 and was supposed to direct 4 before the great feminist took over remains ever so murky. And no, I did not know his involvement in The Lost Legacy is "zero". Which it likely isn't, given that he might be on talking terms with the people who are making it, but fine, it's not his project.

Amy Henning wasn't the only person to get booted off of Uncharted 4 -- Justin Richmond the game director for Uncharted 3 and who was slated to direct 4 also got removed. So the notion of Druckmann's feminist sensibilities being hypocritical in the face of Henning's departure don't hold much water. There were a lot of departures at Naughty Dog around that time. Both Nate Wells the lead artist, and Jacob Minkoff the lead gameplay designer for The Last of Us left before Uncharted 4.

Both Druckmann and Straley were seen as the two golden boys after the massive succes of The Last of Us, which probably prompted the heads at Naughty Dog to give them more involvement in Uncharted 4, which likely upset Henning and Richmond to the point that they either quit on their own or got fired. And whatever happened behind the scenes it didn't get ugly enough to stop Naughty Dog from granting Amy Henning a solo screen credit at the end of Uncharted 4 thanking her for making the series what it is today.

I was honestly pretty underwhelmed by UC4. It was beautiful to look at, but not really very fun to play. So while I'm kind of interested in the story (although I loathed Nadine as a character), I'm fairly meh on it overall. I'll probably play it at some point, but I'm not exactly itching to get it.

I personally thought UC4's story was more palatable than UC3's. The "surprise! monster entity" of each installment was getting old and predictable, and it was nice to have something more tangible and grounded. Like,
this pirate community basically succumbed as a result of their own human flaws. It made the hidden places they discovered feel more believable. The table of pirates
at the end had more of an impact on me than any climactic discovery from the previous three games.

The other thing is if Druckmann really wanted to femine-up UC4, he would have had Nate ditch Elena to take off with his brother and Sully ("I'm all he has left/Sully's like a father!" derp) prompting her to turn switch-hitter from the trauma caused and wind up adopting a young girl with perhaps Nadine, then looking each other in the face saying "We can do this".

I didn't see anything like that in the epilogue. In fact, it was about as wholesomely satisfying a "family" ending as one could expect.

Uncharted 4 is kind of like a better Uncharted 3; It falls into similar pitfalls (story overtaking gameplay pacing, too much globe hopping, Drake and Elena breaking up again), but overall pulls it off much, much better.

The snappiness of the dialoge certainly left a lot to be desired though. Amy Henning seems a lot better at quipiness. I think the only bit in Uncharted 4 that got a genuine chuckle out of me was when Nate blows up a door and he dryly remarks 'Take that door'.

The worst "feminist pandering" I can point at in U4 is Nadine being the only villain in the series that survives, sort of proving herself to be better than the greedy men. But yeah, that's about it.

Well, Marlowe from UC3 is also a female villain and dies. Though her death is really accidental, and Drake makes a token "not the women!" attempt to save her.

Exactly.

And wouldn't ya know, that's another plotpoint it took from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

True but I submit that, unlike Drake, Indy never kills the main villains.

I really really didn't care for Uncharted 4, it became a poor-man's MGS/Farcry type gameplay loop instead of focusing on expertly constructed areas that have a distinct variety to each gunfight, but really only Uncharted 2 has that. Then, part of that gameplay loop, the much lengthier part, was loads of boring jogging around and climbing and some jeep driving on top of that. And, the gunplay didn't even feel good, the shooting and aiming just felt off. I am interested an adventure with Chloe and Nadine but that gameplay just looks so much like Uncharted 4, more jeep gameplay because everyone just loved that I guess. I hate being that person to say "I'll just watch a Let's Play" because I hate doing that because games should be played, not watched, but that's totally my feelings on it. At least Chloe and Nadine seem to be a better duo than Drake and boring ass Sam.

I want it, along with Uncharted 4. But it looks almost exactly like the Uncharted trilogy I played on the PS3. The usual Whack-a-Mole cover shooting, in abundance. Nothing I haven't done before.

I hate whack-a-mole shooting as much as anyone but that video was stupid and not even funny as literally the same exact thing can be said of a FPS, which is even bloody easier to make as you don't need to program a camera or animate the player character either, and no need to even bother with a roll because it's too disorientating in 1st-person anyways. I wonder why indie walking simulators are (almost) always 1st-person? Because it's fucking easier!!!

The following is a much better in both being funnier and way more thought-out:

I'm looking forward to it.

Not expecting anything mind-blowing, just more Uncharted.

Nadine being along is a bonus. Her kicking seven shades of shit out of Nathan was my favourite part of UC4.
Same here. I will gladly buy Uncharted 15 if they keep giving me good adventures with fun stories.

I already watched that video. I agreed with him until he got to Max Payne 3. He doesn't know the game. Like most players, he didn't spend enough time with it to learn it and wasn't daring enough to expose himself to gunfire. I left a comment on his video, but fucking YouTube won't show it to anyone but me. "Comment ghosting," they call it.
Max Payne 3 is mainly just aim and shoot, there's nothing else to do outside of the occasional shoot-dodge whereas Vanquish has far move options available to the player (in just guns alone) while having so much more movement. Uncharted doesn't require much use of cover even on Hard, it's like impossible to die on Normal; then I wouldn't be surprised if played with a KB/M, even Crushing could be played with barely any use of cover. Just because a game can played without cover, doesn't make it good or validate its cover system. I'm sure Uncharted actually would play better without cover at all because then you wouldn't have the annoying ass control issue where you take cover when trying to roll or vice verse. Same with Max Payne 3, the button for cover could've been used for something different or they could've added in cover swapping to increase Max's movement abilities. Cover should be used for both defensive and offensive purposes ala Gears (by accident) or GRFS.

I never understood "cover swapping". Like is it a dedicated, hard-coded mechanic or a term players coined for simply moving between cover.

I can understand why shooters have cover systems because even movies show it being used, but it really needs to be handled dynamically, ei destructible environments and being able to use different objects realistically. Like in Uncharted 2 there were some points where Nate would flip over a table in front of him, and then only have a few seconds to use it before being destroyed.
