Green Day.
Whaaaaat!? What did you think I'd say? I mean, honestly, a lot of people really hate them, and think they sold out with the American Idiot album.
While I like Green Day their sales figures prove they are anything but underrated.

Bad Religion. NEVER get the respect they deserve. Also Pitchshifter. I'd say Skindred, but recently they've been going stratospheric, so I'd guess they're not underrated anymore

I dunno, I'm pretty mainstream in music - from The Killers to Dizzee Rascal.

I will take this opportunity to say that Collateral is an incredibly underrated film though!

EDIT: Oh, The Mae Shi (I think that's the name) are pretty good though and I've hardly seen them mentioned anywhere.

The stranglers? Ive only ever heard "Golden brown" on the radio. In my opnion the whole radio would just be The stranglers, then Crystal castles, then The drums and then whatever else?

I'm not sure of many, but I will list them anyways, as not many people that I know has heard them:
Alexander Rybak, Anberlin, Mastodon, Moonspell, Pain, Samael, S0nata Arctica, Thousand Foot Krutch and Underoath.

Again, I'm not sure if they would be underrated for all of you, but one thing I'm wuite sure, thy are VERY underrated bands and are not well known in Mexico.

To be fair, Temple of the Dog was a super group tribute band. Everyone had high expectations, these people were already praised. I also disagree with Bare Naked Ladies, they've been praised by critics, and sold the most records in one year of the 90's. How much more appreciation do you expect? It's not exactly like there isn't competition.

I would probably say Cracker. Sure, they only had one good album, and one single, but they were both really good.

I would also say Murderdolls in the metal genre. They borrow a lot from glam bands and the "hardcore" nature really doesn't quite hide what movie nerds they are.

Scum of the Earth is a Rob Zombie clone in the truest sense of the term, but that doesn't mean they aren't awesome

Hey! Listen!

If you like Linkin Park / Story Of The Year type music, hear are a few of my reccommendations:

Vaeda - No-one has heard of them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jeBNeLkWXI

Chasing Victory - A bit screamy but worth a go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02waWTTjOqQ

Every Time I Die - Emo name, but actually quite heavy (+ good lyrics) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IewQXMJQjvA

House Of Heroes - Softer than all above but still rock-y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7v6lGru95Y

Reef.
They were and still are my favourite band.

2nd album was big here in the UK but they never got the recognition they deserved.

Indeed, but they're basically a grunge superband, and aren't likely to ever reform. I was thinking of bands that still, well, exist.
