I only have a PC so my gaming experience is limited to that platform. My experience with kids has actually been a positive one. In fact considering I don't really play popular games (I avoid COD at all costs) you don't really come across many kids. However the kids you do come across are actually pretty awsome.

Nothing funnier than an 11 year old shouting orders over VOIP at 30+ adults, even better when the kid is a good player and knows what he is talking about. In fact I bet I have come across many kids playing but never known since they didn't use VOIP. Generally I find the people who give me problems are either insecure 14-18 year olds or 30+ somethings with real anger/maturity issues. It seems your average 11-12 year old behaves better than your 13-16.

It's funny, I had a team of "squeakers" I hung out with on Halo 3 that I used to troll the living SHIT out of people. Seriously, find some kids online who are damn good at the game (they're not hard to locate) and enjoy the lulz that ensue after you beat 30-year-old alpha (OMG I'M MLG HARDCOAR) douches with a team of kids.
I can honestly say I've never come across a good squeaker in Halo.

Perhaps our definitions of "damn good" are different though.

I knew I didn't like Team Fortress 2 and first person shooters in general.

Kicking someone for having a high pitched or less deep voice than the rest of players?
Just like making black people sit in the back of the bus or keeping droids out of your cantina... people never change.
Hey, the droids had it coming!

I've never had problems with prepubescent brats. I've been in games with 11 year old dorks but never had a problem with them. Mostly because I don't play to win and just troll back harder. So they mostly question my sexuality in a condescending way despite not being old enough to have sexual feelings of their own and I go along with it and agree with everything they say in an upbeat way. It's like improv really.

The Squeekers are the entire reason the mute button was invented. I remember back when I used to play COD, as a match was starting up, just scrolling down the team list and muting everyone. I'm 20 now, but I do still find myself getting annoyed by Squeekers - they tend to be the ones who'll not shut up and/or hurl insults with their high-pitched mousy voices...

Wow. That is the dumbest combination of words I have read since the Ocean Marketing incident. Could you please not ever refer to black people and buses ever again because it is belittling of the black struggle for equality and it pollutes humanity's pool of knowledge. Seriously, don't take it too bad but what you just said made me cry a little from a broken heart.
I've taken a few hits for it already. I'm sorry I broke your heart :(

My cousin is one of those kids who play games he shouldn't. He has Call of Duty games, he plays them online, but he doesn't engage in the trash-talk some under-age gamers do (at least, I don't think he does). I feel really guilty about it, because it was me who got him into gaming in the first place.

Squeakers can get pretty annoying, and if that happens I usually take off my headset or mute them, but I don't ever call them out on it.

I have been mistaken for an underage boy before because my accent is somewhat "rough" sounding anyway, so on my old mic, it sounded a bit like a boy before puberty. It used to do my head in getting muted by people and told to come back when my balls drop. I generally don't care about an underage gamer being in a game unless they're acting like an idiot. If they use the mic to say something relevant to the game, that's fine. If they're using the mic to chat to their silly wee pals or to sing or to generally insult other gamers, then I get annoyed. It irritates me more when it's a child than when an adult does it. When an adult does it, I just pity them.

Unlike (most) adults, kids can play all day long on a regular basis. Hence, they have the potential to get better at the game due to playing a shit-ton more.

Guess you've never heard of school. It's a little thing that they make you do from the age of about 4/5 to the age of around 17/18.

I've never had people complain about my voice over mic, but I didn't use a mic until I was around 15 or so, and I only use a mic when playing Left 4 Dead and occasionally TF2.

I have had experiences where a squeaky-voiced 9 year old managed to be a valuable member of the team, but I've also had times when a squeaker held up our L4D campaign while he had an argument with his sister and kept getting killed. That's why you have push-to-talk...

I don't talk online myself... I sometimes listen, but I have quickly learnt that there are about 10 people who play online games, and there voices and attitudes seem to have been copied and pasted accross the entire world...! They seem to argue for nothing, and yes, it seems to be the kids who will cause arguements and yell at people for no reason... seems they are very quick to throw insults there mothers would slap them silly if they heard them talking that way.

I used to talk myself, but I have an obscenely posh accent in comparrison with the online community, and I know that without meetimg me in person my voice can carry me as being pretentious or snobbish, even if I am not being anything of the sort! Helps me in my job though, especially when phoning senior people at work!

I'm fine with them as long as they aren't trying to act tough, bitching about the game, or being anoying in some other way their okay with me and if they are being anoying I'll just mute them.

In my experience people of all ages can be equally annoying, but I just either mute them all, or stay in party chat in the end.

It's weird thinking that I'm no longer considered an "underaged gamer". I can buy 'M' rated games and see 'R' rated movies without having to get a homeless guy to pose as a pare- I mean... what?

People can be funny to listen to sometimes, most of them are just straight stupid though (I have plenty of stories to back that up). I was never really like that. I was "blessed" with a voice that comes across deep and monotone through mics and phones. Also, I hardly ever use my mic, because I don't care. I'm going to play my games my way, with the exception of L4D or when I'm with friends.

I think the problem isn't so much "underage" as it is "immature". I'm 17, and I play Call of Duty and other 18s. I've played them for years as well, I don't find it any big deal because I either never speak online or try and act like a decent human being when I do. Underage gamers can be alright, and a large portion of the time it's people who are of the age requirement who are immature, blasting music, and acting like dicks because they feel they have the right to since they're not too young to play. Eh, whenever I'm playing I usually just mute annoying people or stick entirely to party chat.
