As previously mentioned, the Etrian Odyssey series. With all threads (falsely) asserting about how JRPGs aren't RPGs, it's good to have a game that stays close to the origins of RPG video games like Rogue and Wizadry. Hope the rumored Atlus 3DS title they're working on is EO4.

Also, the Harvest Moon series, namely the Rune Factory sub-series. Farming, dungeon exploring, romantic options. Hope that RF Oceans is released in the US on the Wii.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto, the first game to have jetpacks

Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga. Unlike Dragon Age, it actually lives up to the 'Dragon' bit

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. One of the few star wars games that don't revolve around Jedi and Sith, instead, it's about the Bounty Hunters and their 'hunt'. I swear that game was underrated, it deserved much more praise.
I agree, it was one of my fav games on the PS2

What is that I don't even....

'Look at you wearing no makeup and eating a steak for lunch'

FOR SHAME.

Somehow the monotone voice acting just makes it worse.

I'd say Magicka, It's an awesome game with an amazing control system it should get alot more attention than it does.

3D Dot Game Heros is great, I think it is just as much of a "must have" as LBP.

I think Nier is fantastic...and I'm only 4 hours in.
Same here. I only just started playing it a few days ago, and I already love Weiss.

*Ahem* er, I mean Grimoire Weiss.

LOL sorry for jumping in like this but how's the combat in Nier? I was considering buying it once but after I saw the chick (or guy....according to the japanese version) wearing a thong, and negligee I kinda wrote it off as a game just trying to grab attention with bouncy boobs.

However I came across it again and now I'm tempted to get it. Is it actually good, story and combat wise?

I thought that The Saboteur was a underapreciated game
It had a few problems and was unpolished, but it was also very bug free.
The voice acting was not great, but in a way, was funny.
It was a decent game in my mind, but very few people I know played it.
Also on the plus side, you can choose a way to do most misions, and despite what Yhatzee says, Running and Gunning does work for some.

thank you for this post i was just thinking of one game

Shadow Of Rome

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6pM5_Y9ibw&hd=1

this game is gory and bloody as hell but it was entertaining and it had tow gameplay styles high octane action and unnerving stealth, it was scrubbed by Capcom for not selling much.

Combat is pretty solid. Relies a tiny bit too much on magic, but can be quite challenging. It's mostly hach'n'slash, but it can change to platformer, text adventure and top down, and those are just the ones I've seen so far.

Story is turning out to be interesting, although I haven't finished it yet. Loving the characters.

All in all, I'm having quite a lot of fun, and some of the side quests are interesting, although you do have your standard fetch quests. Since it's not that expensive anymore, it's worth a look.

Last Scenario: a Freeware RPG that feels like it could potentially be part of the Final Fantasy series. The characters are multilayered, the plot is crazy deep (I've been playing for about a month off and on and I'm pretty sure I've barely scratched the surface), and the Spellcard mechanic is really nifty. And it's free. If you're into turn-based RPGs, I gotta say you should try this one.

I agree on Deadly Premonition...that game to me was a masterpiece, despite all of it's flaws.

Metro 2033. One of the few games to be based off a novel (a Russian one at that) and developed by a Ukrainian company, 4A games. It had fantastic atmosphere and a good use of HUD. Unfortunately it came out at around the same time as Mass Effect 2, so got pushed under the carpet.
I'll second this.In the middle of reading the book now.
Cant wait for Metro 2034 to come out!

For all those RTS fans out there, Age of Mythology. Its by the creators of Age of Empires but instead of playing as different kingdoms, you are playing as different gods. Its a pretty neat concept and it has a lot of mythological monsters that you would not have known about otherwise. Unfortunately the expansion sort of drops the ball on its creativity but is still a very fun game to play.

Nier is a great game if you are into/can tolerate a Square Enix game.

Ninja'd!
But yeah, I was going to say Metro 2033. When I played it I had so much fun, but I noticed barely anyone on my friendslist had it which surprised me since I thought it was an awesome game.
