Shadow Hearts and Shadow hearts: Covenant.

They were some the the coolest Rpgs that took some amount of skill to master the judgment ring. The storylines in both are ridiculously awesome and a big step in rpg territory (First time i saw a guy gets his head popped in an rpg)

Covenant was the best for me. Huge storyline, Interesting characters that meshed together very well. There were a bunch of characters but all of them interacted with each other. No one in the rag tag party were strangers to one another. A feeling of friendship among your circus of freaks was predominate and awesome. Such a well told story.

... Then From A New World blew so hard it would make a woman in Bangkok blush. Lets not talk about that one.
Is it for xbox? It sounds like it woul be from around that era and I'm curios
PS2. Don't think it ever hit the Xbox. But you cant find the games anymore. They discontinued it. I borrowed the first from a friend and purchased covenant second hand.

Yeah i like prey and doom three really isn't underrated it was a massive financial success
Doom3 isnt highly regarded with a lot of gamers, it was overshadowed by halflife 2 and the stolen alpha from e3 didnt help as most people avoided it because they assumed you needed some beast PC to get half a dozen frames a second. Most people didnt like that Doom3 was not doom it was some survival horror type of game
fair enough i got told but prey was quite good
lol wasnt being hard or anything. Just explaining why I think its underrated. Most people at the time that I talked to about it thought it was rubbish.

Psychonauts. After being convinced to play it by a few friends I thought it was simply amazing. The review scores (which were fairly good) and low sales really don't do this game enough justice.

Still have to go with Otogi: Myth of Demons. Despite being somewhat crtitically well recived, it sold just barely enough copies to warrant a sequel and then before it could even be considered a franchise, dropped off the face of the earth.

Wait, is this specifically for Xbox or Xbox 360?

Cause I didn't have my original black beast long enough to find any hidden-gem games.

If we're talking 360, I say The Outfit and Earth Defense 2017. Massive fun, and they're both even more fun with the included off-line multiplayer. ^_^

Gee, I haven't seen this thread all month.

The original Resident Evil for the ps1 was way underrated. Great voice acting, top notch controls and superb graphics made it an unrecognized gem of the mid nineties. I'm suprised nobody else has ever heard of it. They made a couple of sequels, but they kept on going downhill until they completely got rid of the zombies entirely, and the series went to crap. I heard they made it as a remake, but nobody really cared because it was for a shite system. Most of the time trying to remake a game from an earlier genration is a bad idea. Really, do we need Ultima: quest of the avatar for the ps3? While they could make a direct translation to the wii, it might be beyond the hardware capabilities, so I would be skeptical.

Just Cause on the PS2 sucked.
I never played the PS2 port but I loved it. Ill admit it was buggy, but still was quite fun.

Just cause 2 absolutely blows it away though.

Ape Escape (the first) for PSX... Tombi 1 and 2 for PSX and Mischief Makers for the N64... 4 REALLY UNDERRATED games :(
God, I haven't thought about Mischief Makers in YEARS. It really was underrated and fun to play...

What about Pokemon Puzzle League? Out of all the Pokemon games, it was severely underrated but I could spend hours and hours playing it and just enjoying it.

Wait, PS2 port? Wasn't it a PS2 exclusive? And Just Cause 2 isn't all that amazing as well, but it certainly is better than the original.

Final Fantasy V gets very little love even from longtime series fans, probably because it never had an original US release. So when Final Fantasy Anthology came around, it didn't have any kind of nostalgia backing it up, and got seen as just some old game riding shotgun in Final Fantasy VI's car.

FFV is ligthearted without being silly, dramatic without being melodramatic, has a balanced and lovable cast, and represents the single greatest version of the job system in the series' history. The settings are varied and interesting, the game is tightly-plotted and well-written, the villain is one of the most interesting and devious in the series, and combat is fun and extremely varied due to the near-limitless options presented by the job system. The game has practically nothing to complain about.

Heavy Rain was not underrated. It got like 8-9 out of 10 everywhere. Which I find ridiculous, considering it has no replay value and is only about 8 hours long. I'd say it's extremely overrated, because it should only cost about 20-30 dollars for the low amount of content, and it wasn't even very interesting.

OT: Metro 2033, all reviews complain about buggy gunplay, and poor stealth, but I've had no issues with the gunplay, and I like the stealth. I think it's great.

Also, Spellforce 2 is a very interesting RPG/RTS hybrid, but no one I've seen has ever even heard of it. (And it does have its fair share of glitches.)

Also, the Escape Velocity series is absolutely awesome, but seeing as how the first two games were Mac exclusive, the third being the only one released on Windows, I can see how they went primarily unnoticed. Also, you can get plug-ins for the third game to modify it into the first two, so you can "technically" play all three on Windows, but only through mods of the third.

Lego Racers.
It will always been in the shadow of Mario Kart 64 and Crash Team Racing, which came out at the same time.
Despite this, it's an incredibly charming, simple and FUN racing game.

Star Wars Republic Commando, horribly underrated...
This, this and for the third time, this.

OT: Seriously. Star Wars Republic Commando is, IMO, the third best Star Wars game (first and second being Jedi Outcast and KOTOR) ever. This game needs a sequel, and I do not accept those crappy Karen Traviss books.
