Enemy Territory Quake Wars, Purely a Multiplayer game that absolutely shits on the COD games, yet was never very successful because suprise suprise it was published by Acitvision at the exact same time as COD 4 so no one even knew it exists.

Awsome game trailer

You people need to play some Rise of Nations and its expansion, Thrones and Patriots. There's nothing like building the Terra Cotta Army wonder and having Infantry appearing every 30 seconds or 1 minute. Oh and nuking a city.

I see your Rise of Nations (which was a great game) and raise you a "Rise of Legends" Lots of people were turned off because of the fantasy bent, but I really enjoyed it.

Seriously guys, we can't keep calling Psychonauts and Beyond Good and Evil 'underrated' anymore because they've become so well known now. Sure they didn't sell as well as they should have on their release dates, and that's a real shame, but they have much more support now than they used to.

Underrated games would consist of a game that was pretty fun to play, but not a lot of people heard about it.

EDIT:
@armaina-

True, Psychonauts and BG&E are infact more popular now than they were yesteryear, but the fact that I still keep finding gamers (who consider themselves experts on the subject) that have not played or heard of either game still makes them in some small way underappreciated.

@The Real Sandman:
Most of those games got high scores, but no one played them. What the hell's wrong with people?
But TimeSplitters, Viewtiful Joe, Dead Rising and F-Zero GX sold pretty well and got good scores.
Prototype was over-hyped and got 'meh' reviews from critics, but it still sold. Metro 2033 is underrated for sure, so is Killer 7.
Okami is in the underrated list along with Psychonauts, meaning EVERYONE thinks it's underrated, meaning that it's known and respected.
Paper Mario did well, too. So did Bully (Greatest hits, high scores, high profile release)

I think Street Fighter 3 has been somewhat neglected. It's been lost in the constant wave of praise fanboys throw at Street Fighter 2 and the people's love fest with the Alpha series and it's just been sitting there, getting played by some tournament players but ignored by the rest of the public. Hell, even Capcom denies its existence. There hasn't been a Street Fighter 3 character in any crossover game (Except Capcom Fighting evolution) until now that Capcom recognized it as its own and included 3 characters from it in Super Street Fighter IV, while the Alpha series has 7 characters in this installment.
I know! Street Fighter 3 had some cool guys. Alex, Remy, Oro[sub]okay, he was just weird[/sub], Q, and Hugo would've all made cool additions to the Street Fighter IV lineup. Dammit, where's my Charlie!? whey haven't they included him?!
Alex HAS to be in the next Street Fighter game, he was too cool to just drop like that. Q was great, too. Great moves and great character design. 12 was alright, a bit hard to use.

Why did capcom drop the insanely fast pace from Street Fighter 3? What? Was it too fast for the Street Fighter 2 fanboys? Street fighter IV is ok, but it's only a few clicks above Street Fighter 2's speed and worlds below Street Fighter 3's speed.

I think Lost Planet needs more love. Sure the controls sucked a bit, but the game itself was great! Really challenging, fast paced and it had giant alien bosses AND Mechs! Halo's got NOTHING on that.
