So basically I had the brilliant idea of searching for the Sheep Dog 'n' Wolf soundtrack on YouTube, and I had actually forgotten how awesome it was.

I honestly have no idea how music this so damn cool made its way into a video game. And one about the fucking Looney Tunes at that.

Okay, maybe I'm obsessing, but whatever. As a purveyor of awesome VG music, I am happy for you to hit me up with any videogame soundtracks which you think don't get as much attention as they deserve. I am interested in every genre except rap, j-pop, etherial, dan- y'know what, just use this thread to discuss underrated videogame soundtracks.

The Twisted Metal soundtracks never seem to get the love they deserve. At least, not by many that I know. Maybe I'll be proved wrong.

I like it. It will go on my MP3 player, along the the other torrents of suggestions which are a common feature in Optimus Hagrid threads.

Glad you like it, and don't worry. Others will post. At least, I hope they do. Otherwise I'd be a liar. Don't do that to me guys! :)

Indigo Prophechy actually has a really good soundtrack. It was what made some of the more intense scenes so intense.

I hesitate to call anything related to Final Fantasy underrated, but the FFIX soundtrack is brilliant, but often overshadowed by the soundtrack from FFVII.

I love the Jade Empire soundtrack. The melodies have a certain beauty to them, even the battle ones. Hell, I bought the soundtrack on my phone so I can listen to it wherever.

I have a few soundtracks that are superb:
The Dragon Age:Origins goes without saying.
Jeremy Soule and his Elder Scrolls Scores are fantastic.

I don't know if it counts as underrated, but the Knights of the Old Republic soundtrack was phenomenal. Bastila Shan's theme in particular is a favorite of mine because it's so mysterious and beautiful, and a bit sad, too.

And I know it's well-appreciated, but Leliana's Song from Dragon Age was stunning. I just had to throw it in here because I love it so much.

I've loved pretty much all music from Bioware's games. :)

The soundtrack to Prinny: Can I really be the Hero? is pretty damn catchy and fun. I finally managed to beat it and unlocked the dimension guide so I can play the DLC levels and boy, Asagis DLC level has one of the most infectious and catchiest tunes I've ever heard.

Can't find a single link to the music itself aside from a playthrough of part of the stage.

If that doesn't get stuck in your head then you are lucky. I can't stop humming it, and the rest of the soundtrack is so much fun.

World of Warcraft. Too lazy to post some videos, but the background music that most people turn off is actually excellent.

I'll say Fallout 2. For me at least, a lot of what made the game good was the unique soundtrack which really captured the essence of the locations. Each major location had its own theme and really made it memorable.

Modoc is an excellent example:

Or how about good ol' Arroyo?

I got nothing against most other RPG soundtracks its just that there's not much creativity there. Dragon Age (or Elder Scrolls, KOTOR etc) for instance is often a mixture of John Williams type classical music with some traditional celtic music thrown in. I just wish there was more variation.

Say what you will about the game, but Age of Conan has an absolutely amazing soundtrack. Seriously, one of the best and most professional I've ever heard in a game. They went out and hired some of the best music talent out there for that game, and it shows... er... hears? Whatever, it's beautiful, listen to it yourself if you don't believe me.

Another I really enjoy is the soundtrack for the expansion, of all things, of Neverwinter Nights 2 called Mask of the Betrayer. It's moody, ambient, and extremely stylish. Suited the mood of the games story perfectly as well with it's sort of dark and dreamy vibe that persists throughout the soundtrack.

But if you want something more obscure, old, and not an MMO, here's a good one. Etherlords. There's only two songs from the game on youtube that I can find, which is a shame because I always remember the soundtrack being better than the game itself (Which wasn't shabby itself, although it wasn't amazing either!).

The theme around 3:40 rocks, I gotta say. Can't remember much about the game at all, but I definitely remember that song.

Oh they occasioanlly do. I meant outside of the Escapist. Like in Youtube and Newgrounds (NG because that's where Castle Crashers home is (sadly))

I thought the soundtracks on the other Halo games were okay, nothing special, just average songs with an orchestra to back them up. Then came along ODST's moody soundtrack, the music around the city at night really shined. It never got as much attention as the others though.
