Even if he did just let them take him away, did you expect Edgar Ross to actually let him live? He'd be tried, executed and vilified all with nary a whimper from him. It was the only thing he could do, to be shot down in a blaze of glory.
He could have killed edgar ross easily. Seriously.

The plot twist from Second Sight, where the flashbacks are actually the present, and the present is actually a potential future, which really did make sense when you look back at all the weird, weird, weeeeeeeiiiirrrrd things that happen in the game.

Red Dead Redemption where
John Marston fucking dies!
Don't get me wrong, it was a dramatic and well done twist, but I hate playing as his pussy-ass son.
Great, thanks. I think I figured out the twist without even seeing the spoiler. Great.

OT: Don't really have any. Maybe because I constantly get myself spoilered (case in point) but even though, they never really shock me.

Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn

You knew Spellhold was a trap but figured in typical heroic fashion you'd plow through it unharmed. Not so! You Lose, Irenicus kicks your ass, Good Day Sir! Hell the only reason you survive at all is because Bodhi likes to play with her food when Irenicus isn't looking. 'You' being her prey!

The Longest Journey

April isn't the chosen one, her life is in ruins, and oh; her father beat her as a child too. How... erm... cheerful?

That last one just left me in a melancholy mood too. At least in BG2 things eventually turn out alright!

I thought STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl's twist would have been good if the translation became comprehensible instead of so-bad-it's-good. Then again, the dialogue adds to the game's charm... I think I prefer "Get out of here, STALKER" to an okay story.

In Soviet Russia modern-day Ukraine, Strelok is you!

Oh, just thought of another one from Alpha Protocol that made me go "NO WAI".
If you unlock all the dossier intel for Madison, it turns out she's Alan Parker's son, and you can tell him this in Endgame. Then she had to go and get shot in the back. What a *****.

Didn't it, though? Since first flashback, I was thinking, "oh, so, what, they're treating time-travel as a psychic power? Really? Well, OK, but that's really not in keeping with the tone of all your other abilities..." And then you find out that it's completely and perfectly in tone with the rest of your abilities! Really well done.

Yeah, but then the fifty bajillion U.S. Army guys with rifles pointed at him would have killed him. Believe me, I tried. The second you take aim at that bastard, your head explodes.

which is why I said he should throw dynamite to kill almost all of them and then kill edgar if he isn't already dead. The army wouldn't have the resources to go after John forever.

Which brings me back to what might have been my original point: If the government was coming after John, they'd be coming after Jack and Abagail, too. The only reason John killed his old friends was because they had his wife and son in custody, God knows what happening to them. He sacrificed himself to just end the violence, and give his family a chance to live.

Uh, the text after the spoiler kind of gives it away. You might want to move that "[/spoiler]" around.

OT:

If you choose the good ending, and it turns out that Baristov just took over the world (just like Demichev did) with the TMD you left behind after killing yourself. What a douche.

Bioshock......You know.

Kessler is time-traveling Cole from the future! THE FUCK? (In a good way)

PS: Why yes, I do enjoy abusing spoiler tabs!

From The Modern Warfare games
The nuke detonating before you and your team escape the blast radius from the first one. And the ending to 'Loose Ends' from the second game. Both of those shocked me.

Emil wasn't really Emil, but rather the empty shell of Aster that he took on at the Palmacosta raid. He just used Emil's identity to hide himself until he regained his full power.

Ambassador Alba is the Big Bad and basically the head of this whole conspiracy you've been following the whole game. Furthermore, he is not a decrepit old man as he appears, but a tall-standing, forceful general who doesn't give himself up until you've proven absolutely EVERYTHING
Jonathan is a crazed stalker. She was running from YOU, not the knight; he was saving her.
Rico throwing a "fuck you" to the USA and destroying the oil field so no one fights over it; quite possibly preventing WW3
Leggett nearly INTENTIONALLY got Allen and Garnett killed; Baker's been hiding the secret the whole series
The monsters were not 'created', just 'discovered'. Their mother is very peaceful, and kindly asks you to leave them, and the facility alone.
The protagonist declines, and sends a communication: "Kill them. Kill them all."
Prophet survived. (actually, this happens twice. Prophet just doesn't die.)

...Adachi is the killer. A pretty surprising plot twist on it's own but it gets even better when you find out that he was killing people just for shits and giggles

A truly great antagonist. You don't suspect him at all.
I know. I was like, "There's no way it could be possible." But then it made sense when the story progressed.
