Well...just watched watchmen...turns out it's me that watches watchmen...and i have to say i love it. I give it 5 stars any day. A truly incredible feat of film magic...and the CGI-awesome.

The watchmen comics have been called "unfilmable" many times in the past due to their ultra-complex storyline, incredibly hard-to-create characters and the broad range of locations.

So I now say...Watchmen:Filmable as proven in 2008.

What do you think of the film, and if you haven't seen it yet, will you?

I have had no interest in the graphic novel previously but with all the praise it has been getting I will probably see the film soon.

Yeh that is pretty wierd...and a lot of the time it's screentime in the film is completely pointless anways. Just there to creep people out.

I've seen it and I didn't like it.
It was a bunch of superheroes without any superpowers (except for the naked blue man) bitching about how hard it is to be a superhero.

I agree. Watchmen was fantastic and I think Zach Snyder did a great job at making such a great comic into a movie.

I thought it was quite good, not as good as the novel but still a worthy watch.
It is impossible to catch all the little details in the comic into a movie (pirate story, parts of books, newspaper articles, etc.). On the other hand, the movie got the twist done a bit better IMO, it makes more sense.

Yeah I knew it wouldn't be able to pick up the little details as it would have to be split into two films. I don't know if the twist was better but it was a lot more film friendly, I don't think the original would have worked in the film.

I haven't seen it and probably won't, but not because I think the movie will be crap, but because I just don't bother with television and movies anymore.

See, you say it makes more sense but like, the only problem i have with it is that it is so easy to lose the storyline.

In the film, if you miss one bit of dialogue-like one of rorshack's diary entries, or say...a small convo involving the blue man, dr. Manhatten, that's it-you will either wathch the rest clueless or rewind to see that bit again. Slightly annoying if you are not completely concentrated and don't manage to catch everything.

But here is another plus point: the story and stuff and all the minor details and twists are so rich in the film that you have to keep a close eye on it the WHOLE time.
See, that one works both ways. I think it as more of a plus than a negative.

And the way the film wraps up is incredible.

Still un-filmable.

Passing references to characters don't count. Not enough of the story threads and elements had enough time to brew, and while the ending was good, they still had to change it for it to supposedly work.

I liked it. But in my eyes it's still un-filmable.

A lot of books/comics are thought to be unfilmable, but that is very wrong. Watchmen proved that just this past year. America Psycho proved that nine years ago. Trainspotting proved it thirteen years ago. Nothing is unfilmable! It just takes the right director to get the job done.

Hadn't heard of Watchmen until the trailer for the movie.
And the trailer didn't look very good, so I never bothered to see it.
I might pick it up at the Red Box for a dollar when it comes out.

I love the Red Box...

I've seen it, it's good, zack snyder really has potential as a director. He's really good, and so is the movie, although I think it worked better as a graphic novel.
