They made a film?Quaxar said:Day of the Triffids? Who'd ever want to look into that awful film?
Well, very few of the survivors could look...That's sort of the point...Those meteors, doncha know.Quaxar said:Day of the Triffids? Who'd ever want to look into that awful film?
Yeah, I know. Those triffids were so lame, the writers had to blind and basically cripple the victims in order to make them at least a bit scary. Even the horror film with a posessed elevator had normal people (apart from being braindamaged and not thinking about taking the stairs)!The_root_of_all_evil said:Well, very few of the survivors could look...That's sort of the point...Those meteors, doncha know.Quaxar said:Day of the Triffids? Two films, two TV series. There was an American one and an English film AFAICR.Retodon8 said:They made a film?
No I haven't, I only know the film. Does the book make it better?The_root_of_all_evil said:/facepalmQuaxar said:Yeah, I know. Those triffids were so lame, the writers had to blind and basically cripple the victims in order to make them at least a bit scary.
You have read the book I assume? The book that explains why the humans are blinded?
The films look at the plants. The plants are only the sub-plot. It's like watching Day of the Dead and wondering where the zombies come from.Quaxar said:No I haven't, I only know the film. Does the book make it better?
Read the book. The Triffids themselves are merely scavengers, and merely a side to the story's real side. Honestly, it's a wonderful book. All I know is green meteors (Superman?) have blinded everyone watching so they can't run from the awfully slow and weak triffids. I know there's a whole different story in there too, but I was only criticizing the plants themselves.
Alright, I'll put it on my "to read" list. Expect me to come back to it in about a year, I don't have exactly a few books on there.The_root_of_all_evil said:The films look at the plants. Put The Chrysalids on there as well. John Wyndham is a geniusQuaxar said:Alright, I'll put it on my "to read" list. Expect me to come back to it in about a year, I don't have exactly a few books on there.
Still, if you say it's better than the film I'll give it a shot.
