"Jonas Brothers are awesome!!"
"They are nothing but bastard offsprings of Guns n Roses..."
"Whats n whats?"

A conversation with a random teen in a bus, who persisted to make everybody praise the newer bulls*** that has been fed to us with a cake shovel. Worst thing yet: she was 1-2 years younger than me. Was she raised in a barrel, buried under an abondoned farmhouse that is underground?

Now seriously, why there is people that has alienated from the true gods of rock. Instead they praise the demi-go.....almost-go.....anti-gods of "rock". This pissed me beyond that of a human is able to.

The convesation continued as followed:
"You dont know Guns n Roses? You dont know who Slash is? Not even Axl Rose?"
"Ooooh, i saw this Slash guy on tv....god he was bad playing guitar."
*a long and painful silence*
"....I want to hit you so hard, that your children will still bleed.."

This made me listen to all of my albums from ye olde times (Judas Priests, Def Lepard, Guns n Roses etc.)and appreciate how i was raised: amidst of real music.

Some bands have fallen into the "unknown" category amongst the newer generation, but yet they havent been unforgotten. There must be something of a similiar experience amongst you with the "unknown and unforgotten" goods.

What? The hell do you mean by real music? The music that's clogging the mainstream today isn't good, but it's music. I'm confused by what you mean real music is.

Yes, I have heard of morons who call out The Beatles and Pink Floyd, even though they've never lisened to them. It is stupid, and I'm always quick to point out that they shouldn't trash what they haven't tried.

Sorry to burst your bubble but in guitar cirles slash is considered a retard. But other than that I completely agree, but I think its a universal law that if you like one type of music you completely ostracize another, i.e. people were talking about some band called 3oh!3 or something like that, and I had no clue as to what they were talking about.

whoa whoa whoa, trash guns n' roses, but not the beatles or pink floyd. those are the holiest of the holy.

Slash is a really good guitarist.
Only reason why pink floyd was any good was the amount of drugs he was on while writing and performing.

Are the Jonas Brothers even still alive? In fact, the only time I ever hear them mentioned is when people complain about them. Stop bringing them up and let them die slowly, and then we can get to burying Justin Bieber and Lady GaGa.

Ok.

1. who is "he"?
2. Are you sure it's not that they're really good at their instruments and have an excellent musical vision? Including David Gilmour being one of the best guitar players of all time.

I know what you're doing though. You don't listen to PF and you judged them because of the Wizard of Oz/Dark Side of the Moon mash-up. That's lame, do yourself a favor and go listen to DSOTM and Animals.
I think pink floyd is a pretty cool guy, he plays music and doesn't afraid of anything (sorry couldn't resist)

OT: Who decides what music is real and what isn't?

Sir, I grew up on band such as AC/DC, Guns 'n' Roses, the Beetles, and Pink Floyd. It's not so much the whole Wizard of Oz/Dark Side of the Moon mash-up and more of a property of music that was produced at the time. I'm not denying that it was good music and that they had a good amount of talent, but there was an amount of drugs that were involved in the production process.

Yay you realized that things are forgotten over generations!

But seriously, why did you post this?

See, I would consider Guns & Roses, Judas Priest and Def Lepard to be just as crappy as the Jonas Brothers, albeit in a different way. Can't call out any music as being 'not real'. That's absurd. If it's made with the intent of being music, it's music. Whether you like it or not.

I do hate it when people complain about post-rock being devoid of vocals, though. More so because they're pointing out the glaringly obvious than anything else.

Same here. I forgot the Jonas brothers even existed until this thread. That proves what you and I believe:

Stop talking about something, even if it's how much you hate it, and it will go away.

Why more people don't get this, I'll never understand.

You know, maybe she just isn't into "TEH RAAAWWK"? After all you mentioned she liked The Jonas Brothers which I think we can all agree is pop (rock) music at best.

Therefore why should she have to know about Guns n Roses? For example, how much do you know about David Bowie, Gary Numan, Human League, Joy Division, Kajagoogoo, Bananarama, Yazoo and other popular musicians from yesteryear who were greatly loved by their fans and comfortably sold out venues consistently in their heyday?

*[sub]Although in saying that, you'll probably have quite a knowledge of them annd end up making me look like a right berk. [/sub]

Also; I'm 17 and I was, like OP, raised on Rock and Hair Metal. Heck, I've seen AC/DC, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Europe and KISS to name a few recently. My sister is 13 and in love with the Jonas despite having almost exactly the same upbringing as me. She has her own taste and I have mine. Can't hate her for having different opinions to mine.

Sorry dude but it's kinda hard to sympathise when you say things like "real music".
Just because it came later doesn't make it worse.
Just because you don't like it personally doesn't make it shit.

Yes, yes it is. I won't even go into how you translate "music I hate" into "not even music".

As I said, it's still music, it just sucks.

You know Guns'n'Roses were very mainstream and popular at one point as were most of the bands your thinking of. I agree that today's popular is barely music but classic rock for the most part was no better. Obviously there were bands like Pink Floyd who put serious thought into their music and actually composed proper songs... but Guns'n'Roses? Really?

How does the way someone looks make a difference to how good their music is?

My point was that girls mostly like it because it's teenage boys trying to be romatic.
