Well in defense of 15y old Meruru and 19y old Totori, people in this world live till ~30 years
It's pretty typical in manga and anime that the main hero is or becomes the absolute master of their field well before their 25th birthday, so I can't single out the Atelier games for that.

To be fair, I see it happen in Dungeons & Dragons games all the time. The system kind of assumes that there's significant downtime passing between adventures, but I've never seen any DM (including myself) actually run a game that way. Players always want to follow up the last plot thread immediately. So most PCs rise from 1st level to 15th in a year of game time. Just as ridiculous.

Have you considered branching Unskippable out into anime? I would re-watch NGE with Graham and Paul.

Heh, I am surprised to see a third part to this one... and when she said whatever it takes, my first though was of assasination rather than... whatever you were thinking about.

They would lose, badly.
I agree. Meruru could easily solo both of them.

Gotta love all the guys crying over a game like this. So insecure in their manlyness.
Plenty happens in the games, actually. If it's not your cup of tea, and you're butthurt that female characters get to do something, why play it? Just play your sameface steroid-abusing soldiers grunting together in some generic battlefield or something.

What, exactly is the gameplay of these games?
You gather stuff, beat up monsters, and have interactions with NPCs. You know, like most western RPGs.

*sigh* I USUALLY don't mind bubbly Japanese stuff. It gives it a unique charm that's nice in contrast to the usual grim and gritty stuff that's on the market now, but... this is a bit much.

Also, Graham and Paul, welcome to the odd world... of the detached sleeves. Why are they there? BECAUSE THEY'RE DETACHED SLEEVES. DON'T QUESTION IT. It's hot... for some reason...

... Detached sleeves usually go hand-in-hand with armpit fetishes, from what I know, at least. Make of it as you will.

The Law of Conservation of Mass, which states that energy and matter can neither be created from nothing nor destroyed to the point of elemental nonexistence. In other words, to create an object weighing one kilogram, at least one kilogram of material is necessary and destroying an object weighing one kilogram would reduce it to a set of parts, the sum of which would weigh one kilogram.

The Law of Natural Providence, which states that an object or material made of a particular substance or element can only be transmuted into another object with the same basic makeup and properties of that initial material. In other words, an object or material made mostly of water can only be transmuted into another object with the attributes of water.

Somehow i doubt these are the "basics of alchemy" that these games operate from...

I'm more curious as to what the main plot is. The gameplay, even if it were fantastic, is probably completely divorced from the story anyway, whether it's turn-monster-stick-bashing or some kind of shop simulator. But I just can't fathom what the driving conflict could possibly be!
"

Main plot :

King : Meruru this is a kingdom with 500 inhabitants, if you want to prove that alchemy is useful, go use it to improve the country and make sure it has 30 000 people in 3 years.

Rufus : Princess, I have designed super genius plans for every problem in the kingdom, just do those and you'll earn developement points to build stuff in the country. Now for tutorial's sake, your first mission is to go deliver some pie to soldiers stationed outside the city.

I had to check some reviews to make sure you weren't kidding. Sounds... pedestrian, to be honest, but it's essentially not that different from the goal of Civilization games. Except for the pies.

Did anyone else half expect some alchemy gone wrong monster to ooze out of the vat?
Like if Totori was trying to resurrect her mom, Full Metal Alchemist style?

That would rule.
I was hoping for a FMA reference there, too.

See, the second part right there doesn't apply to reactions on molecular level or smaller. Depending on various factors, mass can be partially transformed into large amounts of energy, and vice versa.

See: "Binding Energy"

Then again you might just be picking a quote from a source that never actually goes into nuclear physics and I'm just nitpicking

Plenty happens in the games, actually. If it's not your cup of tea, and you're butthurt that female characters get to do something, why play it? Just play your sameface steroid-abusing soldiers grunting together in some generic battlefield or something.
A combination of childish Xbox Live level insults, jumping into ridiculous conclusions and hypocritical, exaggerated generalizing.

It's not often that I see it all jumbled into one post, it's a rare treat

Every time they say "stir it right" I keep thinking back to Spoony's Wendy training video where one of the lyrics is "you have to stir it right"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=H1U-W1S1aDY#t=316s
So I guess if you stir the Wendy's chili wrong it turns into mustard gas.

Also, the best part of that vid. No really, it is worth watching.

I was going to say "Holy crap that was sexist", but you're right. I shouldn't take offense. I should simply enjoy the stupidity.

I've played similar games before, do they still make grenades out of fruit? I think it was called the Uni bomb (just in case I'm not using the right word I'll describe it. A bomb made out of a spiky fruit named after the sea urchin).
