What, exactly is the gameplay of these games?

You gather stuff, beat up monsters, and have interactions with NPCs. You know, like most western RPGs.

*sigh* I USUALLY don't mind bubbly Japanese stuff. It gives it a unique charm that's nice in contrast to the usual grim and gritty stuff that's on the market now, but... this is a bit much.

Somehow i doubt these are the "basics of alchemy" that these games operate from...

I'm more curious as to what the main plot is. The gameplay, even if it were fantastic, is probably completely divorced from the story anyway, whether it's turn-monster-stick-bashing or some kind of shop simulator. But I just can't fathom what the driving conflict could possibly be!

King : Meruru this is a kingdom with 500 inhabitants, if you want to prove that alchemy is useful, go use it to improve the country and make sure it has 30 000 people in 3 years.

Rufus : Princess, I have designed super genius plans for every problem in the kingdom, just do those and you'll earn developement points to build stuff in the country. Now for tutorial's sake, your first mission is to go deliver some pie to soldiers stationed outside the city.

I had to check some reviews to make sure you weren't kidding. Sounds... pedestrian, to be honest, but it's essentially not that different from the goal of Civilization games. Except for the pies.

See, the second part right there doesn't apply to reactions on molecular level or smaller. Depending on various factors, mass can be partially transformed into large amounts of energy, and vice versa.

I've played similar games before, do they still make grenades out of fruit? I think it was called the Uni bomb (just in case I'm not using the right word I'll describe it. A bomb made out of a spiky fruit named after the sea urchin).
