Great riffing on Not-Solo's out-of-place hat, 'The Great Darkness' and the perplexing numbers of lightsabers. Speaking as a SW nerd, more is hardly ever better in that category except to wow the easily impressed. And some of the books and comics have 'lightwhips' if you believe it. A circular 'light-chakram' wouldn't be so out of the question except for the fact that it would look utterly stupid. Maybe if you could throw it?

So... how does this have any bearing on you whatsoever? Do you play the tutorial as the lady Jedi on Korriban? Are she, the Not-Clone Troops and Not-Solo the instructor/newbie quest givers? What?

Think I'll wait and watch a bit before investing any money into this. Patience is a Jedi virtue.

I liked the part where they said 'this has nothing to do with the actual games story because its an mmo' well not exact same words but you get the idea. Only thing i like about this game is the cgi trailers and even they are flawed and nonsensical at times, 'i'll die but ill look cool doing it!'. Too bad that the actual gameplay is just another generic mmo with lightsabers instead of swords, tbh i prefer swords.

Dear god... That intro was EXACTLY that one scene from Episode 4.

Has ANYTHING good come out of Star Wars since the original trilogy?
HEATHEN!

KOTOR is the greatest Star Wars story ever told! The original trilogy is good and all that but the story of Revan is better in every way!

"No... This is only the beginning". Really now. I bet the other Sith guy killed him just for using a lame cliche line like that.

I don't care that the amount of cheese in that clip could probably feed a village for years. That. Was. Epic!

Why must every single Star Wars game reuse the same John Williams scores from the movies? There's a million Star Wars games already and only 8 hours of music between them.
Because they're well known and recognizable, which serves to inspire that good old feeling among the SW fans. But do not despair, I've got good news! There's some 6 hours of original music in TOR alone - on top of the previously known scores. And no doubt the patches/expansions will build on it further :)

While that cinematic may have been terribly cliche and completely wasted on an MMO, that was still pretty awesome. Three lightsabers for the ridiculous win, followed shortly after by a loss because you can't beat a Sith trainee. Everyone knows the master is the weak one.
He wasnt a trainee... there is always a Sith Master and their Apprentice, both are still considered Sith Lords. Its set up like that so that the next leader of the Sith will always be stronger than the last. Its called the Rule of Two.

So he was actually fighting 2 Sith Lords and he bested the weaker one, thats why the Apprentice killed his Master, because he knew he was more powerful and it was time for him to take over as Master.

I... I know too much about it, but its interesting as fuck to me! I cant help myself!
You do know that the Rule of Two came after the Old Republic era? About 2.000 years later?

However, the concept of having a Republic Trooper, a Smuggler, and a Jedi Apprentice who just lost her master all on one ship is one of the better beginnings for a SW story I've seen in a while.
You know what ?
You are right, that is a pretty interesting start for a story.
I think I should play that game.
And by "that game" I am of course referring to the Star-Wars PnP-RPG we got going every saturday WHICH STARTED THE EXACT SAME WAY.
Seriously, when your creative efforts produce the same results as those of a bunch of drunk CS students, you might want to take a hard look at yourself.

Why is everyone ratting on this cutscene? It was awesome.

I may be a fanboy, but a fanboy who knows when stuff is good or crap. Like TFU 1 and 2 were crap, but this, this is awesome.

John Dimaggio is on par with Harrison Ford, let it be said.
I'm a fanboy (or girl!) and I think this game looks like.... Lucas making a shitton of money for old rope
(and I like the force unleashed I & II, at least they had a different story)
OT excellent as always guys!

Great episode. Also, I think that's the first time I've seen one -- and I think I might be hooked. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks double-ended light sabers are becoming way too common.

Pretty much everyone who survived that cutscene is a major NPC of some sort, even Not-R2-D2. The short version is that's the setup for this era of the Star Wars Universe. The actual game starts much, much later like 40-50-odd years later.

Here's the thing everything in the game is pretty much designed to remind you of something of Star Wars (old and new) because it didn't the fans would cry out "It's not Star Wars enough."

Fans like KoTOR/SWTOR for one major reason: Lucas has little to no direct involvement in it. So it's less jarring and arbitrary than the Prequel/Clone Wars stuff.

As much as I've grown to love SWTOR based on all the stuff that's been relayed to me about it (where the Escapist is horribly lacking, I must say as an aside), I must admit this trailer didn't quite appeal to me at all. It really went a bit too overboard. I loved the Decieved trailer though...it had just the right amount of flair, crazyness and most of all - stellar pacing. This is just...eh...it's not bad, but it sure won't be all that memorable for me.

Puns were awesome. Though yeah, ancient Sith kinda all looked like Satan (you'd know such from the lore but yeah, whatever. Let's conveniently ignore it because everything other than the first two movies sucks anyway, amirite?) space cowboys sure don't need to look up in space when their ship instrumentation tells them all the info? And the last report put development costs below 100 million dollars actually but eh sure...quote the Louse all you want even after his co-worker later admitted on his very same blog that they didn't know *anything* about SWTOR at all.

All in all a fun episode. More triple lightsaber comments please. :)
