The worst part about the new X-Com game is how the publisher is treating it's fanbaseVankraken said:The new XCOM. I mean microprose and hasbro really did a number on the franchise resulting in its untimely death but now 2K is digging up the corpse. Now when we talk about how great X-Com was we gotta add in "the original games"...... feels like when you talk about Star Wars.
i will find you....probably not.ZZoMBiE13 said:I agree with you about the Fable games. I've enjoyed each one to some degree, but they've been becoming less with each successive release. Each time they make a new game they take away something that gave the original and Lost Chapters it's unique flair. And it's not the setting or anything. The storyline, what there is of it, has been enjoyable. But Fable 2 took away lots of enemy types and 3 took away the "charm the crowd" enjoyment that the expression options used to provide by making them one on one interactions.Totenkopf said:To me, it's already dead.ReservoirAngel said:I have a bad feeling about Fable: The Journey. I know it's not a proper addition to the franchise, but I just have this horrible feeling that it's going to do so badly that Fable 4 may never see the light of day, which is a terrible thought for me since I fucking love the Fable series.
Number 3 delivered the fatal blow, it had none of the magic (yes, subjective and personal feeling, I know...) that made Fable great.
I regret wasting money for the Limited Edition. I thought it was going to be the new pinnacle.
Personally, I've been disappointed greatly with it.
Fable: The Lost Chapters was the peak of the games, in my humble opinion :/
(Fable 2 was still great, though)

Currently, this seems like the next killing blow to a franchise I love.
Maybe it turns out pretty good, who knows, maybe I'll like, even love it when I've finally gotten to play it.
But the indicators I've seen are pointing towards an entirely different direction.
And honestly,
if THE FRIGGIN KING OF ALBION walks up to you, are you really... REALLY... only going to befriend him if he runs a stupid erand for you? REALLY???? I get the whole building your reputation and all that in the beginning, but once your King? REALLY????????

Seeing as his actual 20th birthday was a while back, and Colours was actually really good (including the somewhat campy storyline - Duke, spit out that gum and take notes), can't you at least give Sega the benefit of the doubt? Even if you honestly believe that the only even halfway decent Sonic games were the original up to Sonic and Knuckles, this has that Sonic and his gameplay as well...EternalNothingness said:For me, Sonic Generations will kill the already dead-yet-undead Sonic franchise. It'll just be rushed and underdeveloped just to coincide with Sonic's 20th anniversary.
Bioware said it is the end of Shepards story not the end of the series. They just had an article about that here a few days ago.OutrageousEmu said:Umm, how? The series ends with 3. When has Bioware ever touched a series after its overarching story is finished?LordRoyal said:What upcoming games do you believe are going to be the death of their franchises?
Personally I see Mass Effect 3 as the peak of it's series, and it's going to be forever doomed to repetitive spin offs.
Square owns Eidos now and they released Deus Ex Human Revolution, and that wasnt half badBlood Countess said:Tomb Raider isn't promising since Square is behind it and look at their track record lately
i'm actually hoping the new tomb raider will make good on every promise it made, because a franchise that big might pull survival horror out of obscurity (and the new lara reminds me of Zoe Castillo)Sixcess said:Tomb Raider. I am not getting a good feeling about the upcoming reboot.
Hopefully it will. The series has definitely run its course.Sean Hollyman said:That new Fable game..
I don't even like Fable, but this may kill it.
That was fucking terrible. I've always kind of dreamt of someone making a video game version of Inglorious Basterds, but that sure as hell was the wrong way to do it.Hero in a half shell said:

Exactly,it feels like it's just made to make the Halo fanboys happy and give Microsoft more money,at least Reach and ODST took place before the supposed war ended,Halo 3's slogan was literally to finish the fight, well what the fuck happened to that?buy teh haloz said:Halo 4. No doubt in my mind.
you got a good point there hun still not the most stellar track record and I like the Tomb Raider games so I do hope it's goodLordRoyal said:Square owns Eidos now and they released Deus Ex Human Revolution, and that wasnt half badBlood Countess said:Tomb Raider isn't promising since Square is behind it and look at their track record lately
