Looks like Mega Man, just without... you know, Mega Man. Since Capcom clearly isn't going to give it to us, this is probably the best we'll get. Here's hoping Capcom doesn't mess this up they way it messes up a lot of good things it has or had.

Hah, loved the Met in there.
Looks interesting to say the least. They are definitely going for that same style big time and even the music reminds me of those games. Obviously he can't name Rockman even once in this video, but even so I'm curious whether he'll get in trouble or not. But he's right, I think, just because it has a similar style (not surprising coming from the same people) doesn't mean it's infringing on anything.
I think I'll support this.
I do like the graphical style of the game (2D/3D mash-up). The only thing I'm a bit unsure about are the enemy-designs. Coneheads? I hope they are not too indicative of the other enemies. It's just not the same as a hardhat. Or just give them a helmet that looks more like a military one or something. The cone looks silly. :-\

I really liked that video. The opening shot was right out of Mega Man 2, the blonde girl walking the pink dog, the hard hat...I saw what they did there.

Considering I play MM2 and 3 practically every day on my 3DSXL, it would be an understatement to say that I really want this game to exist.

Imagine a Mega Man game, minus 25 years of character baggage. And minus DLCapcom.

It looks like Laharl dressed up as a robo person.

I won't be assisting the kickstarter but I'll be interested to see how the final product turns out.

Backing this as soon as I get my next paycheck... I do want a new Megaman to exist and despite what some people here say, I actually quite like the character design for Beck (No.9). I do however don't really like how Call is so very reminiscent of Ciel, and Roll... A bit of a variety couldn't hurt. I do want to see the Protoman/Zero expy of the series however. That being said, the last thing I want this game to be is a carbon copy of Megaman without the Megaman name.

The Music is awesome I'll give it that.

Personally I really want to see this to succeed... I want Inafune to do what he can do best more. Making great games.

Also partly because I want this to be a good "Take that!" towards capcom for damaging one of my favorite series of all.

A shame Mega man can not get the Metroid Prime treatment. That aside this looks neat I wonder how deep it is. If its just a MM1-5 knock off then meh I can leave without it. Give me more equipment, ect to play with and I am in.

Same here. He was going on about giving the game play people love, but new experiences etc so hopefully we have new types of stuff in there too.

Phew, still 29.5 days to go and it's already got almost half of its financing goal. Looking good. :)

I imagine one of their more expensive stretch goals will be constructing a giant paper mache' middle finger and planting it outside Capcom HQ - it fits with the theme of the rest of the project.

Backed, it is done.

Inafune is up there with Miyamoto in Japanese game designers who "get it." The talent he's got on board with this is amazing. Just amazing. It's very similar to the Black Isle guys working on Torment: Tides of Numenera.

Can't wait to see how this works out. And right now this looks more like Astro Boy than the original Mega Man did. So I'd say its more of a homage to that than a rehash of MegaMan.

So it's MegaMan but instead of getting new weapons from bosses you get new transformations?
I approve.

Sorry. I felt the need to ask, why??? What makes you so angry about this Kickstarter? I'm just so curious as to how a game can make someone so mad.

I don't have the money to spend on this right now, but if it does eventually release I'll certainly be buying it day one.

EDIT: urk, I just looked at the funding goal. While $900,000 isn't absolutely outside the realm of possibility, I'm not gonna hold my breath.
You underestimate Inafune - he is one of the legends of Japanese game development, right up there with Miyamoto and Kojima. The kickstarter is already at over $400,000, and it's only been up one day!

It's official: this is the real Megaman 9. I never did understand why they went from the gorgeous 32 bit visuals of Megaman 8 to the 8-bit blockiness that had last been seen in Megaman 6 for Megaman 9. Especially since it could have had lush, HD visuals. I guess now I know: Capcom only cared about making a cheap nostalgia cash in, not a great new game. Now we've got one on the way, and I'm kind of excited.

really Inafune? The best you can do is make up something completely derivative of Mega Man? Adorable. You ***** and moan about Japan having no ideas, when in fact all you've done is prove YOU have no more ideas
Dude, he wants to make a Megaman game (he created the character after all) and Capcom doesnt give a shit (doesnt use Megaman in a long time) so he went to Kickstarter and basicly made Megaman without being Megaman to avoid copyright.

I dont see the problem on that.

It is the same issue I have when these creative individuals are not reigned in. The result is something I do not like (See Psyconauaghts and Brutal Legends).
