I'm not in politics, and my understanding of American politics is not the best... but I am pretty sure threatening one of the most powerful people on the planet is like cockslapping a bear while your dick is covered in honey, and you're standing on a pile of broken bees nests, while holding one of the bear's cubs.
Uh....... Replace bear with shark, and honey with whale blood. Bear's are scavengers and have been known to be ludicrously docile in the face of insanity. A cock slap might scare them away.
Make that 10 sharks, and give them frickin' lazer beams!

LoL, this is a joke right? Of course he took financial incentive... you can thank the 17th Amendment for that. It was that amendment that allowed special interest groups to take over in Washington. It was that amendment that made lobbyists worth while. Investigate him? Investigate them all, but I suppose everyone will only care about one thing at a time.

do you need to be a US citizen to sign it? I can't believe the same guy that'll accuse google of abusing it's power is then willing to genuinly threaten people using his power!
It takes balls to be that big of a fucking prick.

Dodd accused them of abusing their power and using their power to "intentionally skew the facts to incite their users in order to further their corporate interests."
I'm reminded of a certain quote involving shoes and other feet. It just escapes me though, but I feel so very strongly that it applies here.

Really? It reminds me more of a saying involving pots, kettles, and the accusations of color thereof. The exact wording escapes me as well, but I think it's just as appropriate.

Why no link to petition?
RJ Dalton said:
Or at least tell us where we can find it in case we happen to feel it's a good cause to sign in on.
Not only is it linked, mentioned earlier, but also the article says that it appeared on whitehouse.gov.

Now, can we get one for the other suspect folks? Senator Leahy over PIPA, perhaps?

Before you critasize someone walk a mile in their shoes. Because then you a mile away when you critasize them and you have the shoes.

If anyone ever gets to argue with theists about the "intelligent design" of the world and its inhabitants, just ask them "How the hell did Chris Dodd end up in this intelligently designed world?"

Seriously.
Sometimes I just wonder if politics is like the positive side of a magnet and morons where the negative side of a magnet. There obviously is some attraction between those two. I hope Dodd gets what he deserves.

It worries me that I know so "much" about the US politics...

One guy against the internet ? Hope his folks like him extra crispy.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Unless you are Pixar's Cars, the majority of money you make come from the first few weeks of viewings. The amount of money you are gonna lose after that is next to irrelevant. Think about it. The Dark Knight got pirated I don't know how many times and it still managed to make over 1 billion.

If you want people to stop pirating films, drop the prices in cinemas and stop giving green light to every piece of crap film that knocks your door! But nope, instead, we have to pay from 9 to 13 euros to sit through stuff like this:

When you start putting quantity above quality, people will filter your movies and decide which one is worth their time. Don't pretend that all you want to do is look after your job. After comments like these (which kind of remind me threats for protection money in ghettos), we know that all you wanna do is keep your chair warm. You are the chief of movie publishing, in a sense. You have absolutely nothing to do with the creative part. So go get stuffed.

On a lighter note, the first petition sign belongs to a guy by the surname Denton. Nice to see that JC thinks this is a conspiracy.

Bribery? It's the day-to-day workings of a corrupt corporate-government symbiosis, and he is, unfortunately, above the law. Why single him out when this happens every damn day in Washington?
It's the only outlet of frustration available. Not the most effective though and unfortunately we cannot vote him out of a company.

Who in his right mind would speak his anger out like that? He sorta asked for it - it was like watching a baby whine. Dodd should have swallowed his anger, go back to the drawing board and repackage the whole thing.

Petition signatures reached. Success!

These corrupt monkeys need a *****-slap-and-a-half. Who puts these people in power? Oh wait, the monkeys pay other monkeys who are halfways respected due to corruption. This system is bad.

I signed, power to the people baby! Die, Corporate America Die! Lets get back to when you know...it was harder to bribe politicians.
That would be when there were no politicians, right?
Zing!

OT; I think it's already gotten above the amount of signatures it needed to pass. As of late, it seems like the people are really getting back at these assholes in power.

Somehow I doubt a bribery investigation is going to get anywhere anytime soon though. Not because of any global conspiracy, but because in all likelihood he didn't even need to resort to illegal measures in order to get his point - and his money - across.
Well that is the hilarious thing here, how will you prove bribery when it's been integral to whole American political system for decades.
You just use a politically correct term "donations" and you can buy off any politician you need.

"How do we sign!!"

I'm shocked and appalled that there is no YouTube clip from that episode of Futurama ("The Problem With Popplers", in case someone wants to make one ;) ).

At least the petition has well over the amount needed now.

Sounds like what Graham and the EC crew said about E3.

lol

Let us investigate them too!
ESA=/=Federal Government. Nice false equivalency though.

So lemme get this straight.. the folks who signed this petition think that somebody.. anybody.. donates to a political cause without having some sort of political cause (aka policy goal) in mind, and Dodd is thus somehow immoral and wrong for saying so?
It's almost like some people are tired of their government being owned by special interest groups and lobbyists. Anyone remember that 'pizza is a vegetable' debacle recently? You can thank lobbyists for that.
