There are many types of faires. Not all of them have rainbow wings and sparkle.

Redcaps and ogres for example.

Whether Nintendo actually takes those darker fairies and make them pokemon is yet to be seen, but I wouldn't mind a redcap based Pokemon.

I don't see the big deal with redditing some of the current Pokemon that will become part Fairy type. I mean when Gold and Silver introduce Metal and Dark type, Magnemite and Magneton were Electric in Red and Blue were reedit to be part Metal type making that Pokemon more useful. Still I kind of associate Fairy as being grass type or related to grass (you find fairy in a forest).

Also ha, good luck trying to explain scientifically why Fairy is effective against Dragon type (dragon don't like pixie dust?).

Also hell yes to Pokemon aime!!! That's one features from the cartoon (interating your Pokemon outside the Pokeball to bound with them) that I always wanted to see in the game (I wonder when we will no longer get turn based but get real time voice command battles like the show?).

Also this needs to be asked - why isn't Clefairy going to be a fairy type?!
I'm fairly sure it will be, I think they only released a small list of Pokémon that will have the typing because it seems a bit silly to mention all of them, especially as you would want to make a few of them. There will possibly be around 20-30 maybe? I'm not sure how many of each type there are already but they would need to make enough to warrant the new type.
Hopefully, though the last time they retroactively changed types it only affected one Pokemon (then again it WAS only when two generations existed) so not sure how far reaching it'll be.

If they do do Clefairy, I think it'd allow for some interesting fleshing out of the Pokemon world since we know that a new Fairy type attack has moon in it's name, Jigglypuff and Clefairy evolve using moon stones. Maybe they'll tie into some of alien stuff that's been in previous games.

The top right one looks to be an evolution of the robin bird pokemon.

The bottom two seem to be lobsters or cambrian/fossil pokemon.

Oh that hermet crab looks rather nice. Might use that as a water type if it is early on.

I thought we already had fairy types. Clefairy, Clefable, Chancey, the Jigglypuff dudes... what's this new type thing about? Are they just rounding up girly Pokemon and declaring them a type on their own?

I wonder how many pokemon we can catch in this game. Most trailers have a lot of oldies so that's a good sign, I think.

I think people are getting a little too hard on the fairy aspect of the type. if you have a type that's dragon that encompasses multiple cultural dragons (both of the eastern and western variety) it stands to reason ther ewill be multiple cultural fairy types and not all of them are cutesy. LoZ fairies 9at least the great fairies) were hardly the cutesy sit on a toadstool type (especially the one in OOT), and of course those who played the persona game are aware of Oberon the fairy king, as well as the Jack brothers who you can definitely say are fairies in design.

Will they likely be primary sp. atkers and Support, probably, but whats wrong with that. Fighting was defined as the physical bruiser who didnt really do much else except give phys hits and take them. Some types have special niches they fill. i actually realy hope to see a dark/fairy type soon.

other then that... Noivern kinda surprised me. Till I saw it bigger I thought it was a bat in design (which it is still) but I was expecting a dark/flying type. dragon's alright, though I wish they would have went with dark/dragon instead (even if it invites the unwanted comparison to Hydregion). I will say though, I'm not getting excited for it cause its looking like its going to be based on the sound gimmick (with others like chatot and the whismur line being in this same type of thought) and so far none of the sound gimmick types have been very good.

Thankfully my Metapod is always hard.

Aw yeah. I'm going to make an all fairy type team. Because why the hell not. I think it fits in just fine with Pokemon. I'm pretty psyched for these games.

My mind is slightly boggled by this whole Pokemon-Amie thing. How much animation work did they have to put in for all 700-odd pokemon to be happy or angry or whatever as you feed them? For such an inessential feature?

Beyond that, I'm all for new types, and fairy could have some very cool designs. Those pesky dragons have had their day in the sun for far too long.

That lobster looks awesome. Seriously.
If that crustacean Pokemon proved to be useful (I already like the look of it unlike Corphish especially its evolve form) I am so nicknaming it Zoidberg!!!

you could team it up with a Wynaut
Oh you are clever.

Also while on the subject of pokemon, anyone have an idea on the typing of the starters evolutions?
I don't think there's been any word, but some of the ingame battle videos show some more moves of the starters, with the water starter having some fighting moves, the fire starter with some psychic moves and grass with dark? I think? Those last two might be switched. But I definitely remember the water type having fighting moves.
Ya basically my understanding too. Not sure if I will get a chespin or a froakie. Fenikin does nothing for me.

It's nice to have a new type to shake things up a bit, plus is it wrong that I'm SUPER excited to play with the Pokemon-Amie mechanic? I've always liked the idea of interacting with Pokemon, and I guess this is the next best thing to Pokemon walking with you.
