I'm okay with this though I still think Sylveon looks kind of dumb. Also this needs to be asked - why isn't Clefairy going to be a fairy type?!

Anyway, this might be too much to hope for but my secret wish is that the region of X & Y will be physically connected to Unova in some way so we can travel back and forth. Each of the post GSC regions has been an island (SORT of justifying the removal of inter-regional travel) until Unova and since this new game is also going with a Western cultural aesthetic it could hopefully be a sign that they might be neighboring regions?
We don't know if Clefairy is going to be a Fairy type.
Remember they just gave us examples.

The crustacean isn't a lobster or a hermit crab, it's a pistol shrimp. They're very cool creatures and I'm glad to see one become a pokemon; now I'm just hoping for a mantis shrimp/stomatopod.

It's nice to have a new type to shake things up a bit, plus is it wrong that I'm SUPER excited to play with the Pokemon-Amie mechanic? I've always liked the idea of interacting with Pokemon, and I guess this is the next best thing to Pokemon walking with you.
No, it's perfectly fine. We can now pet our pokemon and make faces at them, to which they will respond. Truly my friends, we have achieved the pinnacle of gaming.

The name "light" could have been a better choice but I don't really care much about that. It's about time that there's something else that's very effective against dragons. They've been OP for too long, although, ice types might need some boost now.
I'm also happy with the designs of those pokemon. Well, that butterfly thing might be a bit too generic, since we have already two similar looking pokemon. However, that dragon looks pretty neat, although the german name is pretty weird. If that lobster evolves into something good, I might get it in my team, not sure why but I really like it.

Yeah, even though it's likely that it will be, the name alone isn't enough. For example, Psyduck isn't a psychic type and it's more golden than Golduck.

Oh you are clever.

Also while on the subject of pokemon, anyone have an idea on the typing of the starters evolutions?
Here are the evolution typing for each starter

Fennekin will eventually be a Fire/Psychic

Chespin will eventually be a Dark/Grass

Froakie will be a Water/Fighting.

They look pretty good, I'll add them to the OP now.

Also, I believe that Pokémon's E3 round table is coming up in just over half an hour (can someone confirm that with me?) and this is meant to be the big 90 minute info session. I won't be able to watch it/follow it due to having made some plans already and will try to add the new info to the OP when I can.

We have three new Pokemon courtesy of Pokebeach [http://pokebeach.com/], they don't know the names yet.

The top right one looks to be an evolution of the robin bird pokemon.
I second that emotion!

Got a source for this?

I remember seeing it on Bulbapedia.I guess they pulled it. Seeing as how it's still in rumor stage.
I also heard other wacky things in regards to evolutions as well.

Im actually with you.

Im one of those odd individuals who would not mind being able to just simulate the act of petting a pokemon in the game.

Digging the bat thing. Not feeling the fairy type. And Marill is water, that kind of bugs me.

BUT OH LOOK ANOTHER FREAKING BUTTERFLY.

Sounds like a pretty stupid and arbitrary type. Like dragon really, but worse. At least dragon filled a niche as being the type that was effective against itself. Wonder what Fairy's other strengths and weaknesses will be. I reckon it'll either be supereffective or weak to Dark, for a start, but other than that I don't know. I have always wanted sky battles though.

Ghost is super effective against itself. Anyway, rumor is that Fairy is weak to Steel and Poison and immune to Dragon. But We'll have to wait and see to be certain. I'd be cool to see dragons get taken down a peg for a change.

I think Fairy type is a lot more fitting than say, Light-type. While English players have lamented that we have dark types and not light types, the literal Japanese would be more "evil type", with fighting types actually already representing their opposite as a type associated with justice. Whereas fairies are a phenomenon that aren't really covered by the existing types, and they have a number of Pokemon who fit the bill to retroactively become fairies.

Also, fairy was explicitly added to counter the dragon-dominated metagame, so there's that.

A super accurate rumour-mongerer who had many of their "predictions" come true today noted that Mawile will also be a fairy type (Mawile being based off the kuchisake-onna, the woman with two mouths), so Nintendo and Gamefreak haven't shown us all the fairies yet. It also hints that the idea of fairies also extends to myths of demons and supernatural phenomenon separate from ghosts.

I frankly think that the effect on the Metagame this will have is being overestimated in this thread.
Of the Pokemon revealed to be fairy type, the only one that actually has had relatively decent stats has been gardevoir. The most significant change I can see is for dragon types to be carrying speed boosting items.
Also, but somewhat less significantly, I would see dragons tending toward a moveset of
-Dragon claw
-Fire Blast
-Fairies weakness
-other
as opposed to the previous most common
-Dragon claw
-fire Blast
-2xother
