So I got the news that Portal has got itself an updated ending via this and other sites.

Doing what I'm guessing most of you who own it have already done, I played through it again to see said ending.

What I noticed four testchambers in was that there were various radios scattered throughout the levels (similar to the one at the very beginning, but with a red light). In some chambers they were pretty fiendishly placed, requiring a bit of trickery. Some of them I couldn't find at all. When I picked one up it played the muzak version of Still Alive, and would make a loud noise when you lead it through the forcefield at the end of the chamber. Curious.

So the point of this thread is me asking "did you see them?", "did you 'get' them all?" and "what do you think it means, if anything?"

UPDATE (also an effort to bump the damn thread)

Apparently, if you move one of the radios to a certain point in a testchamber it will play a different noise to Still Alive. The account I read told of various things, including morse code. There was also mention of a radio-based achievement. Thoughts?

You've stumbled onto an ENORMOUS code and trail of breadcrumbs. I can't find it now, but a few days ago, the steam forums were going crazy over it. They found the radios give off a morse code which can actually be decoded into images and code. They then managed to use this to get a number for an old BBS thingy. They used good old fashioned telnet access to further unravel the mystery. Valve have really gone all out on this. It's either spoilers for Portal 2, Half-Life 2 Ep3, or both. Maybe some kind of cross-over?

Edit: Here's the thread where they put most work in.

Cross over hopefully. Out of all the endless threads about great games and what weapons should be/would we want in real life...the obvious mashup is a portal gun in half-life.

You know what, if there is a big war and something needs decoding just tell some people on the internet it has secrets involving a game, and bam you're sorted.

Speaking about Portal related news.

I'm checking out my Gamefly GameCenter app on my iPhone and it sates that Portal 2 is officially announced.

Apparently the source is from Game Informer.

Edit: Ninja'd by the news.

It's an achievement, I know that much, but other then that, there really isn't anything else that I can pick out of it. YET that is. It might mean something, but nothing that I can figure out right now.

Right, remember to have a piece of paper, because after 50 or so inane questions you need to recount a loooooooooooooong passcode (which you can't just copy and paste). I forgot.

Damn.

Is anybody else actually interested by this? Cos I'm pretty excited, but that might just be me.

Hate to tell you buddy, but every third time the code flashes, one character changes. The code you finish writing down is different to the one you start writing down.

That's been up since (as far as I know) Portal was released. I haven't tried it by logging in with this new username and password that Valve gave us, but I know that that application isn't to do with these teasers. Also, nothing happens when you complete the application. It says something like 'application submitted', then goes back to the main page.

If you watch the code long enough, you realise it slowly changes itself to avoid you ever by chance completing the final question

It's just a very clever teaser, you cannot unlock anything else...yet

Actually the username can be anything... So is this site just the same as it was before or not? I can't remember, but I'm sure the password was always "portal".

I think the scavenger hunt is still on!

Note that on Page 3 of the questionnaire, there's no 's'. Just thought I'd put that out there.

And the 's' is glowing on page 36. Strangely, that was the same number I chose as my favourite.
