Using proper Grammar.

Most YouTube comments make me want to smash the offending poster in the the face with a sledgehammer. I can (just about) tolerate "txt tlk" in actual SMS messages but when people have a full keyboard in front of them there is no fucking excuse!

While I accept that my spelling, punctuation and grammar are not 100% perfect, I try my utmost to make sure it's as close as possible to that mark! One of my biggest bugbears is when people spell "lose" as "loose".

You LOSE your keys.
You LOSE your virginity.
You LOSE when you don't win.

You cannot "loose" anything, that's bad grammar! "Loose" is the opposite of "Tight" and "lose" is the opposite of "win" or "find", OKAY?!?

Rant over but yeah, if someone IM's me, posts on a forum or on YouTube with no attempt at decent spelling, punctuation, grammar or capitalisation, then I will ignore them or remove their comments, where applicable.

Grammar Nazi? Nope - I just can't be doing with bone idle shits who think that "u", "gr8" and "r" are acceptable as word substitutes and have no idea what the "shift" key does.

When I'm writing comments for youtube, or forum posts or anything really permanent, I always try my best to keep my spelling and grammar standards high. The only time I let things slip it when I'm talking on MSN. Since I have a lot to say really fast, I don't capitalize, and sometimes intentionally misspell words or mess up grammar for effect, but the entire word does get written, at least. Also smilies get used and abused a lot - mostly "XD" and "8/" - everywhere I write stuff. XD (See, there it is right thar.)

Hell I use posh sounding words in rel life just so everyone else gets confused.

I always try to use proper English. Sometimes I use abbreviations, but only as much as I use abbreviations in elaborated texts in general. I think it's a matter of courtesy. I also have this [http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/9079/1278257725299.jpg] image available at all times when surfing on the internet.

In general I don't use platforms with limited character space - I only rarely comment on YouTube - and I'm writing as a hobby, so that may have influenced me. Reading stuff like "omg ur liek sou lulzy!!!11" feels like somebody is raping the language to me. In Germany we also got the problem of English words finding their word in conversations more and more often and while I think both languages are beautiful on their own, they sound horrible in combination (in my humble opinion).

I always try and use good grammar in any situation.*Puts smug cap on* Back in secondary school I got the highest marks for an English essay that everyone in my year had to write. I even got an award for it, OK it was only one of these internal school congratulatory certificates, but back then it still meant something. *Reluctantly takes smug cap off*

I also used to write game review blogs occasionally, so I had to constantly proof-read it before posting it online. The general feedback was that the reviews were usually well written, actually seeing this topic has got me thinking maybe I should go back and do some more blog posts as they were fun to do as well.

I can hardly ever read text messages that friends me in that stupid 'textspeak'. One text I got was so bad I had to get my mum to tell me what it said. It was that badly written. To be honest I pride myself more on my spelling than I do with my grammar, even if they are equally important. Like I said before, I always try and use good grammar but if someones spots a flaw, I don't lose sleep over it.

Always. 1337 5p33k and txt abrvs are for the weak of mind and sluggish of finger. I can touch type, faster than I can write longhand and almost as fast as I can speak (or in other words, about as fast as I can think ;-), and have been able to pretty much since I've been online - and having internet access certainly accelerated my skill.

On the phone, well, I did use txt spk out of necessity back when phones were clunky, were limited to one (expensive) 160-character message at a time (and only up to 10 stored), screen space was limited and predictive was a far off twinkle in a Nokia engineer's eye. But nowadays, I have more bundled texts than I can possibly use and very effective predictive keypad entry. I can crank words out reasonably quickly. Using abbreviations would actually slow me down.
Though I do kind of miss being able to compose a message with my cordless-house-phone-sized Motorola... whilst walking along... watching where I'm going... with it in my pocket. And easily counting off the characters in my head.

These days the problem is one of being able to keep all the thoughts and ideas rattling round my head and down my fingers under control, to fit them into a reasonable size missive. No amount of abbreviation can fix that. I don't need grammar lessons, I need a skilled secretary.

Anyways, me and my brother often act like the entire comment section on Youtube is designed to make the commenters our laughing stock. I almost always use proper English, but don't pay much mind to capital letters and punctuation when it comes to IM. I'll never write 'u' instead of 'you', however. I always use entire words aside from abbreviations like LOL and such.

I do believe I tend to give my best when on the Escapist, as is evident.

If there are red or green lines that show up under what I am typing, I take the time to fix it. I don't understand people who don't do that at the very least.

I always try to use my best grammar. Especially when typing in English. I do happen to have mad skills in Finnish as well, which I apply whenever necessary.

I suppose it keeps up my English. There's no sense in not using proper grammar.

With my friends I write like I talk, informally.
Otherwise I try to, at the very least, spell correctly.
Interestingly, I tend to focus more on my spelling when not using my first language, like here. Probably because I'm not as used to it and want to learn. So please correct me if I make a mistake.
