This is fucking hilarious. I've never heard of a game getting removed from Steam for being shit until this whole fiasco happened (and while i'm well aware that it was also due to the massive amount of false advertisement, that doesn't mean it wasn't shit). But now I get to see a game that was released that legally shouldn't have been allowed to see the light of day. It just keeps getting better and better.

You know, I usually don't derive pleasure from other people's misfortune, usually... but in this case, I am really enjoying the shit that keeps getting dumped on him. This is truly a fine example of karma, and one guy getting exactly what he deserves for the lies and theft of the ideas from hardworking developers. I can honestly say that I enjoy every minute of this Mr. Titov getting burned.

The guy who was the mastermind behind Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing.

It's funny (you know, in a tragic way) seeing this tale just get worse and worse.

It looks like the old Iraq minister of Propaganda got a job as a game developer.

"As you can see the map behind me is clearly hundreds of kilometres long and wide." And a intern on the other side of it leans upon said "background" which is a really a wooden backdrop, revealing them to be in an old abandoned warehouse as it tumbles to the floor with a bullshit dispelling "thud".
Either that or the US Chief of Intelligence in 2002/2003 (or whatever his actual title would be) got another job.

"So you're telling me these random, inconspicuous trucks crossing the Iraq/Syria border are holding WMDs?" ~ The President

"Why yes, it's quite obvious." ~ Intell chief

"And what evidence do you have that this is the case?"

"It's Iraq. Why else would they have random, inconspiculous trucks crossing a border?"
Actually part of the problem was that the US basically didn't have intelligence services at that point. Our buddy Bill Clinton decided to take the trend of downsizing to the extreme and pretty much shut down the entire US intelligence infrastructure for all intents and purposes, as well as running around closing every military base he could justify. This is how he wound up involved in some truely massive thefts of US military assets. It's also why after 9/11 we had no idea who attacked us, and why there were discussions about what the new US intelligence system was going to look like since we were pretty much re-building the entire machine, there was a lot of discussion about whether we were going to have an "Intelligence Chief" or "Spy Czar" or divide that distinction up to prevent any one person from having that much power.

This is incidently why Clinton's reign was so prosperous (tons of money from cutting all those corners), and W's was such a disaster since he had to pay to rebuild pretty much everything Bubba cut, as well as mobilized reserves never meant for offensive actions due to us not having enough standing military left to do something like invade Afghanistan or Iraq.

Whether Clinton was a traitor or not, I won't get into. On the "nice" side of things his justifications were pretty much that with the USSR out of comission we no longer needed these things since there was no threat that required this much military force. Truthfully Bush Sr. started a lot of the initial cuts, but Clinton took them a lot further than he should have.

The US acted almost entirely based on foreign Intel (even if this is denied), domestic intel and briefs being ignored because our own sources hadn't been in the game. Incidently before these scandals hit top tier, you might remember some snide jabs here and there like how in one James Bond movie "M" says "because unlike the Americans we prefer not to wait to get our intelligence from CNN". We acted heavily on information from MI6, and perhaps most disasterously Isreal, who we figured was most accurate given how close they were to the situation, but as we all know Isreal DOES have it's own agenda in the region.

That irrelevent point aside, I will say that I never played "DayZ" or whatever the Arma mod is called. I bought the game because from the description it sounded a lot like a massive open world version of "Dead Island" or whatever, a game I'd really enjoy if it was to exist. It was presented on Steam as an RPG and mentioned character skills and such which is why I got this impression... and of coruse the game was nothing like that, being a giant deathmatch shooter with zombies as enviromental hazards.

I get the impression a lot of people were roped in for that reason. I don't think the Arma 2 mod is quite mainstream enough to carry this kind of an incident, with people buying this by mistake, or thinking it was like that mod. I could be wrong about that, but I just know a lot of people I've talked to were also miffed at the total lack of RPG elements.

Steam also did do refunds, I got mine and invested the money in some other games from the Christmas sale. In this case the rage was not impotent, or out of place. I do feel sorry for those who bought from another source and couldn't get a refund. To be honest the big winners in this are probably Steam, as I'm going to remember they doing this refund (which they didn't have to do) for a long while to come.

How the hell did I not know about World War Z?! That movie looks awesome!
Not surprising, I didn't know about it myself.

A bit of history though, from what I *DID* know.

"World War Z" was origianlly from a novelty book written by a guy named "Max Brooks" (if I remmeber) who instead of just making another zombie-horror novel, deciding to release a book that was supposed to be a sort of "scrapbook of the future" after humanity had successfully fought off a Zombie apocolypse and recovered. It included practical information, recounting a breakdowns after the fact of famous incidents, and recollections of survivors relayed in a past tense. I believe it inspired a full out "survival guide" and some novels once it became successful, becoming a sort of genere cult-classic.

There being a movie, and plans for games based on this doesn't surprise me, though to be honest despite how it looks I think as time goes on this franchise is losing it's soul. The original idea was that it was a differant take on some very stereotypical material. The more traditional stuff they release (movies, games, novels, comics) the more it lose it's originality, it just becomes part of the pack it set out to break away from.

Boy oh boy. It's like watching a train wreak. Only the train then flies up into the air after the first crash and then falls down a second time. I can't look away for fear it's abducted by aliens next. *munches popcorn*

At this point I believe he only wants to see the world burn. He has to be testing just how much he can get away with before he gets shut down completely.

Maybe they'll just call the game ZombieVille and sell it to Zynga. Also, something tells me that this Titov guy won't go unemployed for long after this all settles. I mean, the guy is clearly a shameless, devious and greedy prick who doesn't know jack about making videogames. He'll feel at home at almost any major publisher company.

I find The Walking Dead to be the best comic book series I've ever read, then the Game is in my top 10 all time. The Z movie is about the running zombies though so it should be good since 28 months isn't happening.

If the book this movie is based on really as 'sequel' to the previous book 'Zombie Survival Guide', then the movie should, like the book, have slow zombies as 'Zombie Survival Guide' declared slow zombies as 'real'.

So when does Hammerpoint get demolished? Honestly the more I hear the more I want this studio to go under so badly and the exectuive producer to get some sort of legal action placed against him.

At this point I'm just waiting for Paul 'wwebsite as on the internet' Christoforo to somehow show up.
I was thinking the same thing.
I want to see some kind of a dream team start to form.
Hammerspoint developing, Christoforo promoting, and the OJ Simpson prosecutors ham-fistedly swatting at all the lawsuits.
I see Ben stiller and Kevin James starring in the movie about all this.
