I have it and I beat it.
Graphics and music are awesome. Each and every character has his or her own personality. There's even a lazy one.
However, once you beat the game, there's really not that much replay value left.

this game is truly this generations Okami - its got brilliant reviews, has a brilliantly unique approach to gaming, and nobody buys it. heck, they both even have cel-shaded graphics.

i bought VC on a whim, heard good things about it but wasn't exactly sure if I should get it... I don't regret making the choice of buying it, its a brilliant game, and its nice to show that the enemy isn't a faceless horridity - it puts a much more realistic and mature view upon the subject of war.

EDIT: English voice dub is pretty terrible, a problem easily solved by turning on the Japanese voice acting and sub titles.

I have the game, and I love it, but unfortunately I got lazy and havn't played it in a long while.

That really disappoints me. I really really REALLY want to start playing again but I'm too lazy to.

Eventually I will start playing again, it definitely is a hugely underrated game.

Most underrated game of 2008.
Easily

My second time through I grew truely attached to the game. However, I didn't care for the anime style of the characters. The backgrounds and scenery were all lovely, but the characters faces just threw me out of the artisitc painting set up. All of the story characters are believable. Some of the extras you get for the 7's are completely unbelievable. Wendy, Jan, etc. all extremely exaggerated characters. It's good to have some funny mixed in with the serious though.

Great job guys. Now I'll have to go out and spend more money. It looked pretty cool, but I had forgotten about it. Probably be my next game purchase since ff13 is nowhere in sight.

And yes ratchet and clank was pretty good. I beat it in 1.5 days, so I got pretty burnt out. Also, I kept having R&C flashbacks while playing killzone 2... apparently you can't strafe-jump in killzone.

Jeez you really stumbled into the wrong genre XD. Well to us fans the answer is no, and besides facing Selvaria in real time would be a complete death wish.
Christ, no kidding! I'm on the Trench Warfare mission (13, 14? chapter), and I lost the Edelweiss as soon as she showed up. It SUCKED. Only tried it once, but I think I've figured out how to capture their stuff easier, so hooray.

Haha sorry to hear yougot your ass kicked, she did that to me during the desert mission with the MASSIVE TANK so now i stay as far away from her as i possibly can at every opportunity now XD. Btw you listened to all the advice your team gave you right? - ie get you tanks into the ditches immediately and pop out and back to shoot at her, just purchase all the accuracy tank equipment from R&D and its actually pretty easy.
Yeah, I guess armor's not as useful there. =p Thanks, I'll try that. Does the Shamrock's alternate weapons have any effect on her?

And no I didn't get my tanks to cover, I was trying to get the shamrock into the trenches to use it offensively, didn't realize I couldn't get into the trenches before it was too late.
Yeah, armor's nice and all but she has a freaking lazer XD

I dunno about the shamrock's flamethrower but i wouldnt want to try and find out XD. I did however find out the hard way that the gatling gun did bugger all, but to be honest its accuracyis waaaay lower than the edelweiss so just put it into the ditch and ignore it for the rest of the battle :)
*cough cough*, It wasn't that hard, you just hide the tanks in the trenches, they even tell you to do that, then every time you hit her, she lose movement points, I think 2 hits made her unable to move the next turn.

People say this game is hard, I beg to differ, I think the difficulty was okay, I only saw the game over screen a few times, and yeah, it is one of my most beloved games ever.
Pst, we know, i found it easy and he made a simple mistake, dont be a douche.

Anyway, to the other point, yeah the difficalty was fine, the only thing that annoyed me was how swiftly a defeat can come out of nowhere the first time through a level - random reinforcements you didnt know about and the like - and how there's no checkpoint system, so failing a hour+ long battle is beyond frustrating. Moreover as i refused to let ANY soldier die, so i saw the game over screen twice as much via suicides than anyhing else.
Uhhh....

You can save during a battle.
Yeah, but most people who are into this genre are to damn proud to use it, I only used it when I were taking huge gambles, and on the "Death from nowhere" subject, that was something I really liked, it kept you on you're toes all the time, you never really knew what to expect, and when you missed that lone lancer that got behind Welkin and the tank... You made a tactical error, and paid for it.

So very true
Not sure about that, wouldn't it be, most underrated game since the launch of the 360? Like, 4 years ago?

On the bright side, the anime is currently airing in japan, and episode 1 and 2 are already subbed and on youtube, watched em yesterday, and since you can't expect that much, it were pretty good, they use the soundtrack from the game to great effect, but change up the storyline somewhat, I hope they keep the key scenes in the anime, Like a certain sniper incident.

True, but moe often than not you wont because in the aforementioned situation you beleive you're fine. If you can find me someone who saved each round for the 25+ battles in the game THEN i'll concede.

Yes, yes, yes, it's one of the few games I'd say you should get if you have a PS3. I have no idea why it was an exclusive.

A friend of mine has it, and it's simply fantastic.

The graphics engine was designed around the Ps3, it wouldn't work on the 360.
So were Square's Crystal Tools originally. Doesn't mean you can't port code.

As for the game itself: well, it seems intriguing and with Wipeout HD, it's another title I'm interested in on the PS3. It does seem that it'll be on its way to Valkyrie Profile land, where only a select few have ended up playing the game and then the game becomes a collector's item, meaning it'll cost over $100 to get your hands on it.

Notice how Square Enix have to build the game from the ground up on the 360 to get it to work with the engine.
Your point being??

All I can take from that comment is, the PS3 and 360 are built differently and therefore games need to be coded differently. Now my reply to that would be No Shit Sherlock.

Although seen as the comment was made by you I assume it was ment to imply that the xbox is shit.

i think its the most under-rated game in existence. now while it does have some flaws (i.e. a lack of multiplayer and...... well thats really the only one) it has the most wonderful storyline i have seen in sometime and i completely agree with you, the characters are some of the most believable i have ever seen.

honestly the demo dosn't do it justice although it does give you some idea of the mechanics of the game. i say give this game a try for all you who havn't already. it is a game that won't dissapoint and will keep you interested and surprised.

edit: although a 12 year old in battle does seem a bit unbeliavable. no matter how good a shot you are, a little girl just does not belong in a malitia...
