Okay VALVe here's the deal. Yes, we get the idea that you get a huge community on your multiplayer games (Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead etc..) but these games are diffrent from eachother. It is acceptable to put community made weapons on TF2 but L4D2 is a hell of a diffrent game. It has a (good or bad, whatever) story. So, would you kindly try to make it more canonized to that storyline? I mean, there are waay better campaigns for both games perfect enough to release it as a DLC. Think carefully.

Well this is... experemental. Although after they have got the idea together i think a loose story a a few lines of new dialog would enhance the experience quite a lot in terms of making the campaign seem coherant and fit into the universe. But as a "Part DLC, part community mod" idea this is one of the best i have seen, it really takes cues from the "polycount pack" in terms of community involvement but takes it a step furthur with idea being thrown against the wall in a forum.

I hope that they don't go the way of the polycount pack. Sure, you could get the items for free, but for people buying through the store, it cost forty effing dollars.

The people who will end up having the most say will be the insane 'I only play it on Expert Realism and only my chosen combination of weapons and tactics is correct so everyone else has to play it my way' Stop Having Fun Guys.

Which means that it will be impossibly hard, overly intricate, and basically a complete lock-out for anyone who doesn't spend every waking second trying to figure out new ways to get through levels even faster with even bigger scores.

No, you can't. I did that in another thread on here and someone jumped on me calling me a "selfish prick". How DARE you ask Valve to deliver a product that you have been waiting on for several YEARS!

On Topic: Um...this shouldn't be too hard. There's no story to begin with in the Left 4 Dead series short of "typical zombie infection, fight for your life." This is one of the things that actually bothers me about L4D. Valve's other games have such good stories, stories that aren't spelled out in front of you, and L4D doesn't. It's such a let down to me. What I would like to see is Valve team up with the people behind the Nazi Zombie storyline. That would be amazing.

It has a narrative, back story, environmental indicators (maps of infected zones across the country, writing on the wall, military plans) but not so much a traditional story in the story-telling sense.

If this were any other company we'd just call them LAZY.

Well then, it's just as well everyone's put away their silly-caps for the day and has decided to pay attention to what they're actually doing, and why they're doing it.

So... valve sub contracts to the gamers, who do most of the work for them, valve charge for it, and make a profit. Gamers get what they want.

I think you misinterpreted Left 4 Dead 2 with Left 4 Dead.

Read; Left 4 Dead... 2! < No story, just bang bang and helluva lot of action.
But the former, however... Left 4 Dead. That is entirely open for debate. I personally believe Left 4 Dead is the most realistic mutant-zombie game I've played, what with the gritty environment, hilarious characters and more-so reasonable paths in the campaigns.

Left 4 Dead 2 has nothing of its former, sadly. And it's about time they finally realized it!
