"Resisted the urge"

HA!

Multi-billion pound companies do not operate on urges.

I still can't play L4D2 because it keeps freezing when I start it up on the "Powered by SOURCE" screen. Friggin' annoying.

Still, looks interesting, I might try and risk fiddling with the files or something to see if I can get it to work.

I think you misinterpreted Left 4 Dead 2 with Left 4 Dead.

Read; Left 4 Dead... 2! < No story, just bang bang and helluva lot of action.
But the former, however... Left 4 Dead. That is entirely open for debate. I personally believe Left 4 Dead is the most realistic mutant-zombie game I've played, what with the gritty environment, hilarious characters and more-so reasonable paths in the campaigns.

Left 4 Dead 2 has nothing of its former, sadly. And it's about time they finally realized it!
This will leave space open for development.
Ah, well this appears to be the problem with how I type. Can not actually place emphasis on what I mean at times. See I was talking about the Left 4 Dead universe as a whole. All of Left 4 Dead, one and two. The first one sets up a lot of back story to the universe while I feel the second one actually shows us how it has affected people. Like the survivor who has bunkered himself up and wants cola in exchange for thousands of dollars of weapons, the boat driver who is still trying to help people when he can. The military doing what they do best in response to carries/immunities/general zombie infected zones.

I feel like the games are following a three act story; First your introduction, bit of back story bit of setting. The second game is the main chunk of action of the story building to the climax. Now I have no idea if they'll make Left 4 Dead 3 (Which I actually doubt it) but if they did that'd be the climax/resolution of what we know. Or at least a little closure.

But the point I was trying to make is that the games do have story, just not a plot. The worlds are set and things are happening with characters who have a goal. Like I said, it seems like there is no story at all but that is because it is just a different take on it. Subtle. :)

Edit: But yeah, I can see how my first statement did not really discuss any of that. Might of helped. I tend to think of a good argument but just assume everyone knows what I am saying because I already thought of it. =P

I'm tempted to be like "Left 4 Dead" ever had a story, but I'm only joking :p ...half

Can I suggest that they make Half Life 3?

OT: This is a good idea. Getting the community to come up with ideas will give them so many different ideas that it'll be a really great DLC.

no you cannot :p
Its like jesus, it'll come when its good and ready so stop complaining :p

OT
Keep up the good work valve.
hahahaha that made me laugh

but yeah now that Duke Nukem Forever is coming out (nice, on my first DN3d playthrough actually...) guess Episode 3's gonna be the new epic vaporware...

After the gigantic clusterfuck that has turned into the current state of TF2, I will approach this new campaign with a certain level of snake-bit caution. Community mods are great, sure, but it all sorta turned around and bit Valve in the ass last time the tried something so community-heavy.

No new story or audio?

Modders make their own chapters like that all the time.

I don't get what all the hubbub is about, besides the fact that Steam is openly promoting/distributing it, and there's an open "Tip & Suggestions" Box (most of which will probably end up being ignored anyways...).
