Let The Right One In is decent...as long as you don't read the book. Then it turns to absolute shit.

30 Days Of Night was pretty good in my opinion...incredibly violent though.
What!? The book is just as good or better than the movie with the massive amount of more detail it provides to the story and its characters. How come you didn't like the book?
Ok either you read that wrong or I worded it wrong:

The film is good ONLY if you HAVEN'T read the book. After reading the book I found that the film was absolute rubbish. So, in short terms, book>film.
Kinda a bit of both reading it wrong and it being worded wrong. I apologise.

I think it depends on which you watched first, I watched the film first and then read the book and I love both. But if you read the book first I can understand why some would dislike the film...

Let me tell you of the best vampire film ever made, my favourite movie ever.

Let The Right One In. It's a swedish movie made in 2008, it really is amazing. They made an American remake called Let Me In which is nowhere near as good as the original, but is still entertaining I think.

Don't expect a gore fest with a shit ton of blood though from either of them, even though Let Me In is more violent, but there is still blood etc.
If the film is anywhere near as good as the book, then I second this.
Well, there are some parts of the book which aren't in the film.

They don't really focus on Hakans perspective much and don't delve much into his paedophlic tendencies, plus they cut out him becoming an Undead vampire. Eli's gender is only hinted at, especially a scene when Oskar see's Eli's crotch area when she is changing but its never explicitly explained. The virginia plot is still in but a few parts of it were cut a little from the book.

But on the whole, the film is pretty much the same as the book with a few more minor parts cut out due to having to condense the story into a film format.

I'm not sure if anybody suggested it yet but I'm gonna recommend the film Suck

It was a semi-recent rock star oriented vampire comedy. It's not the best thing in the world, but it has a fairly unique and funny take on the vampire genre, and it's also full of cameo characters by famous rockers (Alice Cooper, Moby, Iggy Pop, and so on) if you're into that sort of thing.

The first Blade movie was the best of the bunch and well worth a look. so is the Underworld trilogy.
And, while not a movie, True Blood is pretty good. Though be warned, it is very much geared towards adults (it's an HBO show after all) with lots of blood, violence, swearing and nudity. And, while there is angst, it is not the way-over-the-top Twilight or CW show (take your pick of examples) 'emo' style of angst. IT is far more believable and justified.

I feel compelled to be 'that guy' in regards to your movie suggestion. The book that the movie is based off of, or at least vaguely resembles, is far, far better. Though in both the book and movie, vampires are evil, cruel and react very badly to sunlight (i.e. they do not sparkle at all).

30 Days of Night was good, the Darren Shan novels also make a good series if you permit a few minor alterations to vampirism (basically, it just says you become a half-vampire and you just age slower, and vampires dont drink all the blood. and theres no biting.) the first three were made into a film, so they count.
and i havent had a chance to see it, but have heard good things about Let the Right One In.

You can be that guy if you want. I don't actually like either movie much, he was just looking for vampire movies.

Sorry, but I had to comment on this. Let me in was a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE "remake" that needs to die in a fire. They didn't "remake" it, they basically just translated it into English and somehow made it suck.

Let The Right One In is awesome though.
