I'm writing a cultural anthropology paper on video games making statements about political, cultural, and historical occurences/values/opinions for school. I don't need any help on it, as it's practically done, but I'd like a pithy title, one that even a non-gamer from Israel (it's an IB extended essay, so it's graded overseas) would like and understand. Any ideas?

Well, Bioshock takes up the subject of genetic modification. You could include that in some way. Don't know if that answered your question.

It's already in my essay, but I'm using it to focus on Objectivism and Individualism vs. Collectivism, as well as the Rise of the Elite in a Utopian Society.

Aha! A fellow IB student!

On topic, "Video Games and their Effects on Modern Society" is a fairly broad title.

*Salutes*

Yeah, but I want it to be nice and witty. Make the evaluator smile, you know?

Indeed... However, most IB personnel are devoid of any capability for happiness.

Is that a title? Unwieldy...

But I did mention that. I talked about the Medal of Honor series for a bit.

The fuck was that, prime? Cross lines much. As for the atrocities by other sides, in WWII no one came even close to the atrocities of the German nazis except for the Japanese Nazis. And going around typing neo-nazis garbage like that, even if you think that's a joke that's funny, is not going to make you any friends. If your talking about the American bombing campaigns or the Russian distribution of resources into tortuous civilian circumstances none of them compare to carting jews that were to old or weak to assemble mortars to gas chambers so that lamp shades could be made of their skin and pillow stuffing of their hair.

So what? you forget about that or do you seriously think the world as a whole is just a bit too harsh on the proud history of the National Socialist Party?

As for the essay title, if you want clever do it two parts to keep it academically solid. This isn't a novel, so a format like this would be best -- Giving Life a 1Up: Video Games and their Effects on Modern Society.

That would get you your smile and clear understanding of your paper's content and academic structure.

Sounds great. If you mean rise of the elite as in an aristocracy or oligarchy you could make some references to the ancient Greek philisophers such as Plato and Aristotle. Because they believed that the elite were the most suited to control society.

I admit that I quite like that...

Life Is A Game, Games Are Therefore Mini-Games, Heres The Instruction Manual

Or

Instruction Manual To The Mini Games Of The Game Of Our Lives

Or

Walkthrough Guide To Gaming Culture

Something to that effect perhaps, depends on how you like the wording.

okay, here's my shot at this:

"videogames.edu: How Gaming Teaches Our Kids"

"'I PWNed WWII': History From A Different Perspective"

"The United States of Azeroth: Cultural Revolution in the Digital World"

...or some combinations of these, maybe? Just my $0.02

Most games are individualistic with the exception of left 4 dead...and pretty much all of them have simplistic ideas of good and evil...
