I actually can't think of anything but I like the examples given that combine a serious "This is a video game essay" line with a wittier "and giggle at video gaming culture here" line. That way, no one is really confused about the title and if the grader doesn't understand the witty part, it's alright. And you still get at least a chance for a smile.

The Big Red Button?

Eh? How politics and stuff are like a "Big Red Button" in conversation, and games have buttons and stuff.

Or maybe... A Hot Button Issue?

Something that could have both a meaning related to games (the controller's the best part to talk about for non-gamers) or a meaning related to politics or society.

Aha! A fellow IB student!

On topic, "Video Games and their Effects on Modern Society" is a fairly broad title.
*Salutes*

Yeah, but I want it to be nice and witty. Make the evaluator smile, you know?
Indeed... However, most IB personnel are devoid of any capability for happiness.
*shudder* I've lost friends to that program...almost did it meself.

How about, Allyourbasearebelongtous: A perspective.

GAME OVER. PRESS START TO CONTINUE.
Or a Modification of this. Mostly with the "Press start to continue" phrase.

Anyway, God's Speed all you brave souls in IB, I've seen that monster swallow people whole.

Oh dear, a fellow IBer...
Just putting the finishing touches to my EE myself, nothing anywhere near as exciting as yours though... Cuban Embargo ugh.

Although as far as a title goes we were advised to keep it simple or just use the research question. This is because a good title can make it look better, and add some appeal to your paper, but a bad or tacky one can also take something away from it... This also of course depends on the person who ends up marking it... So it's somewhat of a gamble to have a spicey title, but if you're sure it's gonna pay off, then by all means. However I know that I personally am going to play it safe...

Some of the above suggestions were cool though... Although many don't tell nearly enough about the contents of the essay, which is important, or at least we were told so...

Good Luck!

The way that German/Nazis are always portrayed in a bad light despite atrocities commited by other sides?
The fuck was that, prime? Cross lines much. As for the atrocities by other sides, in WWII no one came even close to the atrocities of the German nazis except for the Japanese Nazis. And going around typing neo-nazis garbage like that, even if you think that's a joke that's funny, is not going to make you any friends. If your talking about the American bombing campaigns or the Russian distribution of resources into tortuous civilian circumstances none of them compare to carting jews that were to old or weak to assemble mortars to gas chambers so that lamp shades could be made of their skin and pillow stuffing of their hair.

So what? you forget about that or do you seriously think the world as a whole is just a bit too harsh on the proud history of the National Socialist Party?

As for the essay title, if you want clever do it two parts to keep it academically solid. This isn't a novel, so a format like this would be best -- Giving Life a 1Up: Video Games and their Effects on Modern Society.

That would get you your smile and clear understanding of your paper's content and academic structure.

I'm sorry but what the hell? It's ill informed people like you who mess up the world. Firstly I wasn't joking. Secondly the Japanese weren't Nazis, if not for the sheer fact that Nazi is the acronim for the Nation Socialist Party at the time of the war in GERMANY. Thirdly I never said that Nazis weren't bad but what about subjects like the flamethrower used though out the Pacific campaign by America. Or the Atom bomb. Or the slaughtering of POW by the Allied forces Or Stalin who eventually killed MORE than Hitler. Yes the Nazi were bad and the Final Solution was the worst outcome of any choice in the 20th century, but not all Germans were Nazis. Most were soldiers fighting for the country. Every heard of the Negative Cohesion theory? And it was the high ranking staff, i.e Himmler, who thought up the gas chambers. You stupid, ignorant idiot.

to add to this the British did destroy an entire city on a day they promised not to (Dresden.

However what the Nazis and Japanese didn't help the war effort in anyway what the RAF did to Dresden was horrific but it was a massive morale boost to the British people. What the Nazis did was slaughter over 8 million people for no fucking reason,

the Japanese weren't Nazis but they were Facist which what the Nazis were.

The Japanese killed millions of Chinese citizens and conducted horrific, inhumane human experimentation on soldiers and got barely any fucking results out off it. They did it for fun.
