Well being that most of the music i listen to is rock music and being a rock junkie, i can tell the differences between the moosics. And because HL1 is set in a futuritic(ish) place, you would assume that the music would be eletric sounding, etc etc.DigitalAtlas said:vivalahelvig said:http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/CrowningMusic/HalfLife
Yes, I am so evil, I linked to TVTropes. An entire page of awesome, somewhat ambient music!
I beg to differ! (see above link, if you daaaare!!!)DigitalAtlas said:Sure, Fallout and Assassin's creed have some really atmospheric tones, but nothing compares to that of the entire NiGHTS soundtrack or Silent Hill games.AmstradHero said:Snip
*note that I was implying that half-life's music is western and not japanese
EDIT: And for more rocking music!

Never will I say that HL's music is brilliant. It's got some good tracks, especiallyfor the climatic battle at the end of Episode 1. Still, the game is usually best when they let the tone of the game speak for itself. It's got a few good tracks and a lot of them are VERY similar sounding. The post directly below yours actually has some really good examples of JP music.
It is an absolute crime to mention Mass Effect music and not bring up "Vigil".Richardplex said:Another VG music thread? I'll just copy my response over:
Mostly from ME1 and ME2:
Most of this is just 4 notes played over and over again, yet it's so well done, portraying the scene, sadness and triumph perfectly.
to quote from the top youtube comment on the video:
"Every once in a while, there's a rare magic moment in game when soundtrack, game play, and story align in sync and make for a moment of unforgettable immersion. Running through gunfire on Virmire to this track was one of those rare moments for me."

Well, in my defence, Vigil is so relaxing that I don't recall it playing in the game, I don't acknowledge music or gameplay, just... flow, as Extra Credit would call it. It also happened to me at the end,Anezay said:It is an absolute crime to mention Mass Effect music and not bring up "Vigil".

That "magic moment in game when soundtrack, game play, and story align in sync and make for a moment of unforgettable immersion" happened for me at the end of Mass Effect.
